Good Features of New Softwear

"Copy" posted a couple of these, but thought they deserved a thread of their own. Feel free to add any new features you "discover" as some of these things you just find by accident.

1) If you click on someone's name in the thread list, you automatically go right to that post, as opposed to having to scroll down the entire list. So, for example, let's say a thread has 30 posts and you are only interested in seeing the last post. Simply click on the most recent post (first name in the list) and you will automatically be directed to that post instead of having to scroll all the way down.

2) Click on "Watch the Discussion" at the top right after you open the thread. That discussion then gets listed in "My Med Help" -- for future reference. Or something like that -- maybe someone who is using this feature will comment more.

3) Right click on someone's photo and then hit "CTRL S". The person's clothes will disappear.

The scrolling is very annoying and I have the tingly, tender finger tip things going on already! Scroll finger is raw. Feature # 1 will be very helpful to me :}

So when are the adding feature #3???

LOL you may be right but the more hoops, the more holes to jump through, the more holes to jump through the slower the process which is where we are at now.

Has anyone hit the Spam or Abuse button in the Report This drop down? I got an itchy finger and that box has been teasing ever since they put it on... LOL!

I think it could. Note that your name is hyperlinked at the top of your post and "report this" is hyperlinked at the bottom of each post. In similar manner they could hyperlink "Back to Forum on the top of the Post Comment thread. Of course, if I were programming this, I'd probably go back to the old Dos look with black background and the neon green letters. Now that was MY world but showing a little age here :)

I don’t think it can be moved from its present location because of the text field as the same as with the one at the top because of the layering.

Guess what I'm trying to say is that while I really hated the new look initially, I don't mind it at all now, in fact I'd go so far as to say it's a positive change. The light blue shading is part of the reason, but I think it's mainly because of whatever adjustment our eyes/,mind make to new visual formats. A lot of us have been used to the old MH format for some time now, and it takes time for the mind/eye to adjust as to where to look, what to focus on, etc.

The only downside I still see is that since there are less threads showing on your computer screen, some older posts may get missed, but that's a matter of degree since it also happened before.

Whoops. LOL. So there it is and only had to scroll a couple of inches. Not to quibble but a better placement might be a little higher up for those who don't want to post.

Truthfully, as I get used to the new software, a lot of the things that bothered me initially aren't so bad now -- and the "go to" feature discussed is very handy. \

For example, my eyes have seemed to made an adjustment to the white space on the sides of the blue shading. Initially, that's all I saw, and now I seem to screen it out automatically.

As to the slowness, I only had that problem a couple of times when posting, but I also had it with the previous software. That might simply be a bandwidth issue that MH is probably aware of.

Yes, I like that feature. I'm talking about having a "return to forum" button at the bottom, so you don't have scroll back up to return to the main forum.

What would be a nice addition would be to repeat the "discussion" button or "Back to Forum Button" (a little confusing since they do the same thing) ... but in any event if an additional button was placed close to the "Post Comment" button, it would eliminate scrolling back up, if you decided to read the thread, but not make a post.

Yes, Elaine, I had to sacrifice my gender to the greater cause of software update.

Sorry, credit to #1 and 2 goes to "Getterdone", not "Copy"
