Question about the Expert forum - again

This morning, I went to post a question in the Expert forum to Dr. Dieterich.  It says the daily question limit has been exceeded.  There is ONE question posted and two comments from other people to other questions within the last twenty four hours, which is not even technically "today" yet, depending on differing time zones.

I am going to write MedHelp to ask this same question but perhaps someone already has and has an answer.  Does the daily limit include other people posting responses to others?  Is the amount of questions cumulative somehow such that if five questions get asked one day it eats up limits from other days until it all gets caught up again?  Seems things have changed in the expert forum and it's just not working the same way any more.

I'm thinking out loud here and I think I'm going to write MedHelp and ask them to explain the posting guidelines up at the top.  I did go looking for some and didn't find them.

In the meantime....if you don't know if your personal post to someone who is posting to the doctor is eating up question time, can you simply post a suggestion to that person to post in one of the two forums here for an answer until this is sorted out?  If they don't re-post, either they're not checking or maybe all they want is the doc's opinion. Or simply don't post to them, private message them with a suggestion to post in one of the other two Hep C forums. That's my suggestion.  Open to others.  Going for answers.

Hi Meki,

No issues with the doc getting to it when he has time ... if you can't post the question to begin with, that's the issue.  I finally got to post last evening.

Feeling okay, doing okay, thanks for asking... just working out some sticky treatment issues at the moment.  Hope things are going well for you.

Take care.

I think the DOCTOR has to "CLEAR" the previous questions...

Usually the doctors check in daily --- however - I do believe DR D is dealing with a LOT of cases - and is also doing studies --- and has his plate VERY full --- so is checking in once a week - or sometimes only every 2 weeks.

He's a VERY busy man - and so is the place he is associated with.

I got my question in VERY early in the morning - and you just have to keep trying.

HOW ARE YOU FEELING?

YOU DOING OK?

Hugs babe.

Of course MedHelp will clarify -- hopefully so because they are the ones that program the beast :)

That said, my understanding based on how the software used to be programmed is that once someone "grabs" one of the three slots, then that slot is closed for the 24-hour period even if they don't complete the post. I know this happened to me accidently once when this forum was limited to only five new threads a day if I remember correctly. What happened is that I started posting a question, the phone rang, I got distracted, and ended up forgetting about the post. By the time I remembered it, I couldn't find it on my computer, but in effect I had used up one of the five daily posts even though my post never appeared.

Elaine....perhaps they have always been that way and I've just not been lucky enough to encounter it.  I did write asking for clarification on how many questions a day can get asked, if other posts have any impact on the tallying and why ONE question posted exceeds today's daily limit?  and if they could please post better information at the top of the page on how that forum works and making clear there are other options for posting if one wants more general opinions.  Whew.  So I'll see what they say.  I just want to understand it better and I think it will work better if they do it differently.  I'm doing okay, Elaine.  Just wrestling with a few things at the moment with treatment .. other things are going well and I owe updates which I will get to.  Hugs to you. :)

Trin .. I'm not wading into the posting debate over there. :)  I get annoyed at people posting to those asking the doc a question before he gets to answer himself and I personally wish they'd stop doing that but they themselves and other people don't seem to mind ... I don't think I've ever seen someone respond  with a "Did I ask YOU?" kind of deal so perhaps it's what I call a "stone in your shoe" thing.

For me personally, I'm only suggesting that, until we really KNOW how the posts impact the daily total....that perhaps we might want to use alternate measures so that people can ask their questions.  And yep, I guess that would include me as I have a burning to me question I want to ask. :)

I'm hoping they post better posting information at the top of that expert column, when I sent my question, THEN I got sent an FAQ and it still didn't answer all my questions.  A bit of a closing the barn door after the horse has left approach and still not complete enough, IMO.  Anyway...we'll see how it shakes out.  Hope you are having an "up" day.

This probably hasn't anything to do with your question Trish, but I'm not too keen on other people posting replies to peoples questions on the expert forum either.  If you want an expert opinion, that is why you post on the expert forum, otherwise, there are two other forums to ask questions on.  Once Dr. D answers the question, by all means give your opinion.  I know others view it as perfectly acceptable, but it just doesn't bode well with me.
