How Long Does Redness Last At Injection Site?

Any idea how long the redness lasts? I did my first shot last week, used my thigh. A day later I got a "ring" of redness, just about the size of a nickel. Actually, it's about as close to a perfect circle as is humanly possible. It doesn't hurt or itch, isn't swollen or anything. Only the outer edge of the circle is red, not the area inside the circle. It's like a perfect little nickle sized ring on my leg.

Mainly, I'm just curious as to how long they might last. Tommorrow will be 7 days. It went from "strawberry red" the day after my shot, to a dull, washed out red now (i.e., it's fading).

I'm caucasian, but my complexion tends to a brownish-olive color.

Thanks

Robert

Just did shot 2. The tips really helped. Sure hope I get used to this soon. I'm not nervous or anything, and it went off without a hitch. I just get this sense that I'm violating my body by injecting this stuff.

I'll just look at it as the virus is ALREADY violating me, and this is the cure.

Stay well my friends.

It appears that this, like most sfx, are personal in nature. I'm guessing mine are going to last at least several weeks. Thanks for the input and tips!

Mine lasted for 16 weeks , than all of a sudden they went away
and the strange thing is new ones don`t even show up any more.
I am doing shot 21 tonight and I have no marks.

Hi
The red blotch is normal, usually can hang around for a while.  I inject in the stomach, and I can see where I injected the last 5 times, all in different stages of 'fading'.

Whatever you do, dont scratch the injection site.  Once you start scratching you cant stop and a red bumpy itchy rash may appear, and the urge to scratch gets worse.
If this happens, use diprosone cream to stop the itching sensation and to heal the scratches etc.

Always wait until the area where you used the 'alcohol wipes' before injecting has 'dried'.

Leave the injection in the stomach or site for the count of 5 before removing needle.

Mine lasted about 2 to 4 weeks and were about 4" in diameter. I did all of my shots in the thigh and by EOT my thighs had no hair on them. It took about 4 months before the hair grew back. I did get hair growing on my shoulders though. Weird.

I use an ice pack before and after my injection and it helps with the discoloration.
I really like your idea of the Olympic rings though!

I do my shots on my stomach and after 23 of them, I have all kinds of funny looking spots. I tried my thigh a couple of times but it hurts more than the stomach. Wait till you hit a capillary. I've gotten some huge bruises so there is a nice variety in the colors of my stomach.

I think there isn't anything to be concerned about unless you show signs of infection at the injection site... hot, swollen, seepage....

Good point on the reminder mark. Well, tonight is number 2. Guess I'll put a matching circle on the opposite leg.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that this helps me remember where I gave the last one so I can rotate sites. My memory isn't what it used to be. lol.

I just took shot number 28 and still have get the bright red "bulls eye" at the injection site. They begin to fade about the time the next shot is due. :)

I suppose that after shot number five, if I play my cards right, I can make the "Olympic" symbol on my leg to show my support of the games.
