How do I talk to my doctor about my HepC and Hypothyroidism

After living in the same place my whole life and knew the doctors, I moved three years ago and miss my old doctor. I have been living with Hep C for decades and it is only the Grace of God I am here this long. But I am starting to get scared and want to start the treatment to eradicate the virus .  I have a doctor who did a metabolic panel and TSH test but never did the Liver enzyme and viral load tests in the past year when I thought that was what he was doing blood work for. So the TSH came up high and he prescribed Levothyroxine for Hypothyroidism. I questioned him about the correlation between Hep C and Hypothyroidism and requested a referral to the Hematologist. He said he didn't know anything about the correlation, but my liver looked good due to the Metabolic blood work results being good. I'm worried that my liver is finally starting to act up and it scares me now. Are good levels in a metabolic level test  a good way to gauge liver condition? I was open with my doctor and informed him that  I have Hep C for years. What should I be asking my doctor?  Thank you for your input.

Hello! Welcome, can you get a copy of your blood work? Did he do a Complete Metabolic a CBC
I can't remember last C at the moment.
If I were you I would see a Hepatologist, a doctor who specializes in the liver, and ask same questions.
Most GP's don't know much about HCV and what they do know can be old information from when they graduated.

I was diagnosed when platelets were very low. I was sent to a hemotologist to check the platelets.  He saw cherry red dots on my upper body and tested me for several things.  I came back positive for HCV.  At the time my liver enzymes were only slightly elevated.

I am sure others will be a long soon, Take Care Dee
