I vomited. Should I worry?

I did shot #19 on Saturday night.  Normally any of the 3 days following the shot are filled with migraines, diarrhea, body aches, and fatigue, but I've never vomited -- until tonight.  I had a migraine that started as a headache earlier today.  After work I returned home, ate, then went to bed at 6pm.  The migraine was so great I couldn't sleep, but I got up twice to vomit--everything I ate for dinner came up.  I am normally NOT a vomiter.  It's happened 3 times in the last 10 years.  I WILL call my nurse tomorrow.  In the meantime, have any of you experienced this on tx?  Could it be the flu?  Is it possible to get the flu while on Interferon?  It seems odd that this symptom (vomiting) would suddenly appear at week #19.  Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with this?  Thanks, Aiuta

You may be able to get free samples of imitrex. Most dr's have them and maybe online. It is a miracle drug.

I don't do Imitrex or the ER because I have no health insurance (I would go if I were dying), but they have given me Vicaden.  I will use it if there is a next time to this in the 31 days that remain of tx (but whose counting?).  Regarding vomiting w/o headache, I am fairly certain I would NOT have thrown-up without the migraine.  I'm sorry you've experienced that.  No fun.  Thanks again for your help, BayGirl.  I appreciate it.  Aiuta

I have found certain food which before tx I just loved now do not agree with me. My stomach is so queasy afterward. I am finding this with quite a lot of my favorites.I only had 1 bout w/vomiting after I ate beets, which I used to love and that was in my second week of tx. haven't vomited since

I am so sorry to hear you are having such bad sx.
I am not a vomiter either. Migraines will make you vomit though.
Still, this is something you would want to discuss with your doc or nurse.
I hope things improve for you quickly.

It could just simply be a normal flu bug.  It's the time of year.

We tend to think everything is a direct result of the HCV or the treatment - but honestly as time has gone by I've figured out...mostly it's just a cold or a virus or an infection or something.

If it doesn't clear up see a doctor but - offhand I'd say you're just fine (although it probably doesn't feel it!)

Maybe you had a touch of food poisoning?
A few times on "shot day" I've thrown up, each time I had a severe headache so I figured the headache played into it, but in your case you ate then became ill awhile later. That is the typical way we react to food borne illness. the "stomach flu" is really food poisoning of some sort and not a virus or so I was told by the doctor. We think we have "the flu" but really we had some tainted food.

Hope you feel better today.

Hi aiuta, good to see you post.  Sorry you have been sick lately.  I am just 1 week behind you but different from your sides I threw up 2-3 days after shot the first 6-8 weeks of TX.  I don't throw up anymore but just in the last few days I am nauseous again,  Flu? sx's coming back?  there are just so many aspects of this TX and so different for everyone.  I would treat it like the flu and also check with doc but it very well could be a new side showing up.  so many people have told us on here about new sides halfway thru tx.  Good luck and I hope you feel better.

Just wrote you in thread below.  I hope you are finally starting to have some reaction to the meds!

Thanks you so much.  I really appreciate your support and feedback.  The first 10 weeks of tx were hell psychologically.  Then there was 6 or so weeks of psychological reprieve, with "normal" physical sides.  These last several weeks have difficult in a physical sense.  Frankly, I'll take a physical symptom over a psychological one anyday, but this was my worst night yet physically.  They had prescribed me Vicaden early on in tx for the migraines, but I didn't want to add another drug to the already exploding cocktail.  If this happens again, I will take it.  Thank you all for helping me through this very difficult physical night (you've were there for the psychologically challenging ones earlier on as well).  You are the best and so is this Forum.  God bless you all, Aiuta

HI! I have severe migraines on tx and before tx. At times they are so bad I vomit and vomit and vomit. No fun, this is usually when I go to the ER for some pain meds. Do you take imitrex? I just started taking it again for my migraines and it is a lifesaver. It usually only takes 20 minutes to work and I feel better...

I have also had the vomiting w/o migraine. Just woke up and boom! My dr. gave me Aciphex for stomach and it seems to help with nausea too. I have also used suppostitories with migraines to stop the vomiting. Hope you get some relief. They are the worst!

Remeber that not all illness can be explained by the hcv treatment and you may have picked up a bug.  Being on treatment just makes you feel so much worse.  Be sure to call your doctor this morning is my advise because if you continue with vomiting and diarrhea they may want to check your labs.  Electrolytes tend to get out of whack with these events.  I hope you feel better and in the meantime try to stay hydrated
BTW  saw an interesting article this am on MEDSCAPE under the gastro portion about a quarter of the way down.  It might be interesting  and even encouraging to those of you experiencing mood swings and/or depression while on treatment.  I would put the link on here but I don't know how.  Maybe someone else can.  The article is dated 11/28.

Sorry to hear you are feeling so bad. I had something similar a couple of weeks ago. Nausea, diahrea, chills & muscle aches. I called my doctor and he told me it was a virus (which I probably picked up at their office) It lasted about 48 hours. I hope that's all it is for you. I don't get migraines, but I know people who do vomit sometimes from the pain of the migraine. Might that be it?
Hope you feel better real soon.
((Hugs))
