I know it is the weekend, but jaundice is not a normal side effect, that I know of, others might know. Can you contact the doctor or take her to the hospital?
Hi Hrsepwrguy is right the side effects hit everyone differently.
On the plus side I was cured over two years ago.
Hi Hrsepwrguy.. just wondering if you can help, i noticed my mum eyes and skin is turning yellow. and she is feeling very week. anything i need to worry about or what can i do to make her feel better.
thank you Hrsepwrguy. Hoping for the best :)
The meds effect everyone differently so I wouldn't worry about the lack of side effects, testing after 4 wks of treatment will let you know if the meds are working
Thank you Dee. How was your tx? Did you had many side effect? We were expecting some bad side effects from day 1, but my mom is ok so far.. It's only day 3, and I am worry that we are doing everything like it's supposed to be. My mom supposed to have one injection on Monday, Ribavirin (200 mg) 2 in the morning and 3 in the evening and Telaprevir (375mg) 3 in the morning and 3 in the evening.. So she is taking all tablets at the same time - 8am and 8 pm: Ribavirin tablets with food ( with 20 gm of fat) and Teleprevir 15 min after food... Hope it is the right way...
Thank you very much Hrsepwrguy for your advice. Another think that worry my mum she doesn't have temperature or flu symptoms.. When she had her first injection, we were waiting for some bad side effects, but she was ok, apart of feeling tired. Today is our 3 day, and she looks ok, just feeling tired.. Is it normal or maybe her body doesn't fight the virus? Sorry, maybe it is stupid questions, but we just learning...
Hello, Hrsepwrguy has given you excellent advice. I also treated with Incivek and took the pills immediately after eating the 20 grams of fat.
It is really nice to see a daughter helping her Mom through this tx.
Keep in touch, please ask any questions you may have, there are many wonderful helpful people on here. I could not have done the tx without this forum

Effects of Food on Oral Absorption
The systemic exposure (AUC) to telaprevir was increased by 237% when telaprevir was administered with a standard fat meal (containing 533 kcal and 21 g fat) compared to when telaprevir was administered under fasting conditions. In addition, the type of meal significantly affects exposure to telaprevir. Relative to fasting, when telaprevir was administered with a low-fat meal (249 kcal, 3.6 g fat) and a high-fat meal (928 kcal, 56 g fat), the systemic exposure (AUC) to telaprevir was increased by approximately 117% and 330%, respectively. Doses of Incivek were administered within 30 minutes of completing a meal or snack containing approximately 20 grams of fat in the Phase 3 trials. Therefore, Incivek should always be taken with food (not low fat)
How should I take Incivek?
Eat a meal or snack that contains about 20 grams of fat, within 30 minutes before you take each dose of Incivek. Talk to your healthcare provider about examples of foods that you can eat that contain about 20 grams of fat. Always take Incivek with food.
