Ibavyr & Sovaldi

How does one take the Sovaldi?  On its own at a different time of day or together with the first dose of Ibavyr?

It doesn't really matter that much as far as timing just take per your prescribing information. I assume you are taking the divided dose of ribavirin at 12 hour intervals.

Either take the Sovaldi at the same time or a different time of day are long as you maintain a 24 hour schedule on the Sovaldi once you have settled down on a preference you can slide the time over a couple of days if you don't like what you are doing initially.

Remember to drink adequate amounts of fluids that can help with most side effects.

Also I assume you will be monitored with weekly blood testing at least initially to watch for anemia a frequent side effect of ribavirin. Your hemoglobin  (HGB) levels can be effected by ribavirin so you would need at least a CBC weekly and liver function profile probably every 4 weeks.

Really you need to ask your doctor or pharmacist these questions. We here are just hep c patients like yourself.

That is what your medical team have trained for and what they are there for to help patients and answer their questions.

Good luck

This is best asked of your doctor or pharmasist. What does the information on your prescription say?

I have 2 prescriptions for the Ibavyr, one is 400mg and the other 600mg.  I know that I am to take that twice a day.  However, I was not advised that the dosages would be different so I do not know which dosage to take first.  I am assuming the lower dose should be first.  I am to take the Sovaldi once a day, but I do not know if it is to be taken with one of the Ibavyr doses or on its own at a different time of day.  I have had unpleasant experiences in the past so I am picky about how to properly take medications.
