A liver bx should be about a page long. Call and get your full report. You got stiffed.
This is all I could find for you...hope it helps.
Several grading and staging systems have been proposed that use a variety of scores (Bedossa, et al, 1994; Desmet, 1994; Ishak, et al, 1995; Ludwig, 1993; Scheuer, 1991). Many of these systems have been modified from Knodell, 1981. Examples of a simple and a somewhat more complex system are given.
System adapted from Ludwig, 1993
Portal and Lobular Inflammatory Activity
0 None or minimal portal inflammation, no necrosis
1 Portal inflammation (chronic persistent hepatitis) without necrosis
and/or lobular inflammation without evidence of necrosis.
2 Mild limiting plate necrosis (mild chronic active
hepatitis) and/or focal lobular necrosis.
3 Moderate limiting plate necrosis (moderate CAH) and/or
severe focal cell damage
4 Severe limiting plate necrosis (severe CAH) and/or
bridging necrosis.
Boy that is not much information you got. Maybe it is just the preliminary report. About the only think I can discern is that when the inflammation is lobular, that is a stage 2 or 3. Grade one is minor inflammation and it is usually portal.
This biopsy report that you have says nothing about the Stage of your fibrosis (scarring).
Sorry, I would request the written report.

I'd call the doc and ask exactly what it means to you. It's all gobbledeegook how can they understand you to look and go oh yes! of course! I know what this means!
Get it all in writing so you can review it and look at it on line and stuff, that helps me so much
Wow! What an asset to this forum you are! Thank you and how are you? Lori
Hi and thank you for saying that!! I feel like more of a pain in the butt sometimes w/ all the whining and begging for a joke the otherday!!!! LOL. I don't think I'll do that again..not quite sure if that was appropriate or not, but BOY did I need that!!! It really helped me out that day, more than I could say. It helped me get going after 3 horrible days after my first tx. I feel really good today, NOT looking forward to Thursday. How are you doing??? Thank you for the support. Hugs to you!!!
Thank you, my dear. I hesitate to respond and 'hijack' this thread and be accused of 'chatting', however, I think you, sunspot, nygirl and FRIOLE answered nikki's qustion rather completely. I'm struggling with anemia pretty severely. My new doc. scripted Procrit for me, but wants to wait a bit before I take it as I was initially taking twice the recommended Riba dose. I'll get blood work done again of Fri. I don't feel better than before, but I don't feel much worse either. Who knows? Kind regards, Lori
