Do you have Hepatitis C?
If so what role would intravenous ALA have? I have stumbled over articles in the past how if might aid diabetic peripheral neuropathy but that's about it.
I don't know about air, but IV Alpha Lipois Acid is destroyed by light.
"Preparation of the IV is important as alpha lipoic acid is destroyed by light so it is delivered with protection of the IV bag from light exposure. "
With some medications, there is waste due to stability problems or other reasons.
I would suggest discussing this with your pharmacist and your doctor to see what they say. If your doctor is ordering it, he/she should know all of the details about administering it. The pharmacist should know even more about the pharmacological aspects of the drug, its stability, its properties, and its administration. Be sure it is the pharmacist you are speaking with (not a pharmacy tech).
