My 12 week viral count was 82 IU/mL  Started at 109931 I'm hoping my chance of being undetected by 24 weeks are good.  The doctor will not order the PCR before 24 week so I won't know when I actually do become undetected if I do.  What your opinion?

stopping for that month early in tx is what hurt you being unde at 12 weeks.  You definately need to extend tx .

Honey as a geno 1 stage 3 you are probably best off considering extending to 72 weeks like I did - you are right there.  If he doesn't know about it (like my GI didn't) you can google up the studies and bring him the recaps.   The studies show that it gives you better odds (but sure doesn't make it foolproof).  The longer and farther out you get from not being UND at week 12 the worse it is...the lower your odds get.  Due to the fact that you aren't going to know when you are really UND - extension might be the only way to go, but you have to be UND at 24.

JJ - The RVR would be at week 4.  In the olden days when I started tx back on '05 two log at 12 was the requirement but then right after I started Berg and Sanchez Tapias both had their studies published and it changed my life.

It's amazing how much they have learned in the short time span of 4 years.  It gives much hope.

To the best of my knowledge I've just have had about all the side you can get.  geno1a stage 3 grade 3 ALT in normal range AST slightly still elevated.  I have IBS  and had just finished treatment for H Pyloria (how ever you spell it) when I first started tx.  Was stopped because low #'s after 3rd week for almost a month.  Is it true that onces you are stopped that the virus mutates and can make it harder for the results of the tx.  Once you start back?  I plan to talk to the Dr about extending treatment.  If I get to undetected by week 24.\

It seems you are getting enough ribavirin with your low HGB. Do you have any other tx negative factors, i.e. cirrhosis, obese, etc?

NYG is right and 2 log drop at 12 weeks is kind of old school. Best case scenario is undetectable at 12 weeks. At this point I would ask for PCR's weekly or at least monthly to see when I become undetectable, then I would treat for at least another 36 weeks. Of course you have to be unde by 24 weeks or stop tx.

Best of luck

I'm on procrit hgb coming up right at 10.1  Platelets hanging around 45.  I asked the nurse to send  me copies of the results. My next PCR will be week 24.

Hoping for the best

OK it's very very important now that you find out when you become undetectible.  Crucial in fact.  Ask them to fax over the test results - ask them when they are doing your next PCR.

You have a right to the information it is your body.

Make SURE you find out these answers. Generally you want to be UND BY week 12 (don't feel bad I was not either) not just a two log drop (that is sort of old information really).  You HAVE to be UND by week 24.

Can you talk to your doctor, perhaps add an extra ribavirin into the mix a day?  How is your hemoglobin do you know what your number is?
