Genotypes

I have been waiting since 09/05/07 for genotype results. I was finally told yesterday that they were sent to another lab b/c LabCorp does not handle this test that often. I have a lot of questions. I rec'd the letter from the Blood bank telling me thanks but no thanks.. b/c I tested positive for HCV antibodies in the Elisa test and the postive for Reba. Then my dr sent me to give blood for the viral load. It came back positive but no one mentioned the amount. The dr ask Labcorp to use the same blood draw to get the genotypes. Guess  I go to see the GI dr 10/01. Just a lot of waiting and uncertainty. I am 54 yrs old and this has been dormant for 30 years. Thank God my workplace decided to do a blood drive and actually I was not on the list but at the last moment I decided to donate. Thanks for any answers.

sschell.  I'm waiting to start tx next week.  The waiting is the hardest part.  Either way, I figure I can't change the outcome, and most of what you think could happen never does.  I don't mean to sound trite, but all we can do is take one day at a time.  Easier said than done, but like others say, you're not alone.  Keep coming back here.  Take care of yourself.

Please know your not alone. This is the disease of "the waiting" it teaches you how to be patient I can tell you that. I also had to wait a couple of weeks for the results like you. You are not alone.

We live as you know in a very busy world and unfortunately the medical field is the busiest.
Wish you all the luck.

hi welcome to the forum. i use lab corp and looking at my test results they do not look like they are sent out. it does take about 2 weeks for the geno typing. you can go to labcorp website and they will explain all the tests that they do. i know the waiting is tough but try and hang in there.

Hi. You can ask your doctor to send you copies of your lab reports. People here can help you interpret them.
