Meds at same time

Is it ok to take the injection and the pills around the same time.  They told me to start the pills Saturday and to take them on fridays also but I forgot to ask if they could be took together or will it make the sides worse.

Thanks

So far so good only a little anxiety here too.  It's been 2 hours so I hope it stays that way.
Just as I was getting ready to take it all my kids came over that made me more nervous.
I have 5 (youngest is 21)  I know it was just concern for me but it still made it all seem worst. I'll let you know if it stays that way.  Thanks for the comments.

Hi Debbi:  I still have trouble drinking all of that water, but I do my best.

How did your first injection go?

Are you feeling OK.  with me it was just the anxiety, it gets easier from here on out.

Thanks everyone I believe I'll do the 7am & 7pm as I take my BP and other meds at that time already and maybe I won't forget that way.  I going to be on the riba and interferon for 48 wks.  I was told to drink a gal of water a day.  I try but just not there yet.  Do you work up to be able to drink all that with out feeling so bloated?

Hello again:  I take my pills early AM, I have something to eat first.  I also take heart medication, take everything together to avoid forgetting anything.

Take my PM meds. at about 11PM, along with all my other medication, again so I don't forget anything.

Before I started to do it this way I found I missed a couple of doses.  Not sure about mixing all this medication.  How does it know where to go??

So far all OK.

Congrats. on starting Tx. - Lynne

It's fine to do riba and interferon at same time.  I took riba as soon as I got up in the AM (usually early since I was on a third med that had to be carefully spaced out) and tried to take riba at 5 in the PM so it would not throw my sleep off too much.

Later, if you need them, you can also take Procrit with the peg shot but you may NOT take Neulasta or Neupogen the same day as the peg.  Docs will explain all that to you later if you need to use the rescue drugs.

I took my Riba and did shot and ibuprofen at the same time.  Then as Nygirl said took an ambien a little later to make me sleep thru sides when the meds kicked in.  Usuaklly did the shot on Friday night about 8 pm.

Yes you'll do best if you try to take them with breakfast and dinner - I took mine at 7 and 7 or thereabouts.  It doesn't have to be exactly 12 hours apart but try to keep consistent. Taking them with the meals reminded me it was time to take them. Getting a little am/pm pillbox is good too because you can tell if you forget any (and it IS important not to).

Also it's different with everybody but I took my shot and my two tylenols at about the same time at night (usually at about 6) I found for me I started to feel weak at about 10 I could feel the meds starting to kick in and then I'd take an Ambien and try to sleep through most of it.

Of course you will find out what works best for you and your body.

Good luck!

Hi, and welcome to the forum.  I know you've been around just a little while, congratulations on getting started with your tx.

So, you're going to take your pills (Ribavirin or Copegasys) every day, twice a day.  Most people take the first dose with breakfast, you need a meal with some fat to help absorb the drug.  It's important not to miss a dose with these meds.  I was in a study and was told to take the Ribavirin 12 hours apart, so I took it at 7-8 am and 7-8 pm.  Others here may tell you they did it a different way.  What matters is that you get the meds and take them with some fat.

People also take their shots at different times, but most take the shot at night.  I usually took mine at around 6 pm, but many folks take theirs just before bedtime.  Personal choice.

It is fine to take shot and pills at same time.  The sides will be whatever they will be.  You can't really predict them, and who knows, they could be light for you.  Best of luck, keep us posted.

BTW, you could piggyback this question onto your last post, and avoid making a new post, since it's on the same topic.
