Meniere's disease from TX?

As some of you know, my wife started triple TX about 3 weeks ago. IF, RBV, Incivek. At about the 1 week mark she started experiencing dizziness, a popping in the ears (mostly the left side) and nausea. The symptoms increased in severity until last Friday, when she was really at her worst. We obtained a prescription of Ondansetron (Zofran) that helped with the nausea. Come Sunday she was in sad shape again and I took her to the hospital. They gave her an IV of saline and Ondansetron and sent her home. Monday she was feeling no nausea but was barely able to walk because of the inner ear disorder and the associated vertigo. She's not taken any TX meds since Friday and not done her Friday IF injection. She's off the TX. Her liver is in early stage 2 fibrosis and the hepatologist said she could wait for another TX that might be easier to tolerate. Has anyone else experienced inner ear disorder while on TX? Could this be the cause or just a sad coincidence?

From what I understand Herpes is the only viral association with Meniere"s Disease. The other thing is that it just seems as if your wife's attacks coincide more with the side effects of the Hepatitis C medication rather than the known underlying triggers of Meniere's Disease. You will know more the longer she is off the meds.

I am no expert however and I encourage you to take a few minutes and  post on a Meniere's Forum and simply ask.  As you well know the members of a health care forum are often more well informed than your average family doctor.

I wish this could have worked out for your wife and I hope her symptoms  subside when the meds are all out of her system.

I am very sorry that your wife had to stop treatment. I am also sorry to hear she is having these problems with vertigo.

I was on all 3, Inc., Peg, and Riba.

I was pretty dizzy part of the time and had to hang onto walls so I would not fall. One night I had horrific spinning, kept lurching to my right,  and could barely make it to the bed to lie down. I thought I was having a stroke. Those symptoms did not hang around too long but the one thing that has stayed is the loud tinnitis. I had some tinnitis before Tx but it got a lot worse when I started Tx.

I don't care what those docs say, I think these are Tx side effects.

I am only on dual therapy (Peg/Rib), but I had a few days where I had pretty bad vertigo...the doc said it had nothing to do with treatment, the doc said if it was from treatment, I would be more light headed, not having the room spin, but i find it hard to believe.

it happened a few times as i was working at my desk, then I had it for about 3 or 4 days one time, it started the day after my injection, and got worse for a few days.  At one point it took me about a half an hour to get out of bed, i kept falling back down from the vertigo.  It went away after a few days.

I find it hard to believe that it has nothing to do with treatment when I hear others having the same thing.  I suppose anything is possible, but i suspect it may be a sx that just hasn't been documented as of yet.
