Messed up on dose time!!!

Two nights ago, my husband got confused and took his Telaprivir 3 hours early 9:30 pm instead of 12:30 am.  YIKES!!  So after I calmed down, I called the 24 hr Incivik hotline and a nurse called back in 20 minutes.  I was not sure what to do for his next dose, either take it 3 hours early again and continue each dose 3 hours earlier or just go back to the original times.  She told me to continue on with the original times.  As we knew from our education training prior to starting treatment, there is a 4 hour window of time to "mess up", but the nurse said it was not something that should be taken advantage of.  Taking the dose to close to each other causes sx to become more severe is what she told us... So, hopefully this does not happen again any time soon!

I agree with the nurse but the four hour window for Telaprevir (Incivek) you learned in your training is accurate as well.

I made so many dosing mistakes on Incivek. Mostly I double dosed. It helps to be super organized when you are taking that med. I mean some people even used reminders like two alarm clocks.

If you remember the missed dose within 4 hours of the time you were scheduled to take it, take the missed dose with a snack or meal (containing about 20 grams of fat) right away.

However, if it is more than 4 hours since you were to take the dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

sx is an abbreviation for the word "side effects"

The longer you post you will notice you use many of the same words over and over again. Words we all use. It is easy to lose your train of thought writing out some of the lengthier words like the word "Hepatitis C" itself. Many of us write HCV (or hep c)

Here is a list that has many of the abbreviations that will eventually be second nature to you:
