I don't fault Moore for having money, but rather for the dishonest manner in which he hoarded it by passing off contrived movies made from clips and sound bites rearranged to project a lie as being documentaries and docudramas.
To tell you the truth when I first heard of this movie, I was wondering if perhaps it was an auto-biography. Imagine my disappointment to learn that it very well may be another of those fictional pieces he is famous for that is falsely laying claim to be a documentary.
Cutting and pasting to portray fiction is not documenting.
B-bunch - I agree with you that Moore's new movie might be worth a look, however inflammatory it may be.
Back when I was in college (moons ago), I spent my whole senior year concentrating on health care policy. You would not believe how depressing that was - I just felt like slitting my throat after class... (rather than grow old and decrepit and left to lose everything you've worked for your whole life...and leaving loved ones destitute!). My own insurance declined to treat my disease because my ALT/AST weren't high enough to warrant it. Something as simple as standardizing insurance forms could save billions. Our nation's health care is in a state of crisis and finally someone is banging the drum about it. If it wakes up a few people, it's worth it.
Sorry you guys all had to
put your opinions in. I was just trying to mention
the opening of a movie about heath care and insurance.
I thought it might be of some interest to this forum
since everyone here has to deal with these issues everyday.
I'll never do that again. Geez.
What a bunch of hot heads...cool down ribaragers....
it's just a movie.
Nobody wants to hear about politics on this forum anyway.
Actually I misspoke above when I said this is a "hepatitis C" medical support forum. It's a "hepatitis" medical help forum, obviously including all types of hepatitis. Sorry for the omission, didn't mean to leave the A and B folks out!
Wow. Someone doesn't agree with Michael Moore and suddenly they are a bigot, a redneck and a member of the KKK!!! If that isn't closed minded thinking I don't know what is. I love how it is assumed that people who don't like Michael Moore are hardcore right-wingers. B-Bunch, you know nothing about me other then what I've posted here yet you are so quick to judge. Not once did I attack anyone in this thread for their opinions but you sure did. That says a lot about you and the "agenda" you support.
I don't want to get into the politics of it. It is interesting that someone gives their take on the politics, then states that this isn't the place to discuss the matter. So they get to swing their ax but others are told not here please.
I don't believe in socialism and thought the banks that received bailouts were not really applying free market economics. The free market would have let them collapse. Instead these banks received a tax-payer funded bailout.
This isn't the appropriate place to start going off on political debates, this is a hepatitis C medical help forum (your original post belonged on the other side of the forum). But as a parting comment, just because someone disagrees with your interpretation of Moore's "Sicko", that hardly makes them a Chuck Norris fan or a ku klux klan member. Having a civil disgreement with you concerning a controversial "documentarian" is not the same thing as preaching hate and murdering people. Do you not understand that?
I meant to tell
you guys if this is
a meeting,I've got extra
white sheets if you need them.
You probably
already have the hoods,but maybe
you could use them for your
gowns.
p.s.
hey,Dominic666,oops,I meant 777
This is a good place to
find lots of your.. how did you
so eloquently put it,
"downtrodden" flock?
I forgot about Micheal Moore's agendas, like in Bowling
for Columbine when he got KMart to stop selling ammunition
to teenagers.
p.s. All documentaries have agendas.
They are made usually with the agenda for
people to use their brains, to look at all sides
of an issue.
Boy,I bet you're glad 'Walker Texas Ranger' is
still on reruns.
I don't hate Michael Moore because he has money. I dislike him because he has an agenda and he manipulates his films to further that agenda. He also claims to love his country but he spends a lot of time and energy bashing the country that gives him the freedom to make his movies. I don't think his buddy Fidel would allow him that kind of freedom, do you?
Sure Moore has a agenda it's just it's not the same agenda that pours out of TV sets in the US continuously.
Don't be hating Michael Moore cause he has money. At least he is trying to bring social issues to the surface. Thats alot more than most wealthy people in this country will do. I kind of dig him! Of course I'm not one to worship at the alter of George W
Just my take.
Thanks Sharon for the heads up
Instead of buying a ticket to Michael Moore's movie I would just bypass the middleman and send it to Hugo Chevez, Fidel Castro and Al Queda. They are the ultimate benificiaries of his drivel. I wonder if he is going to discount the tickets so his "downtrodden" flock can afford to see it.
Yup, no way I'm going to put any money in Moore's pocket either. Interesting idea for a movie though. I really liked Super Size Me, but my husband thought that guy had an agenda and he stopped watching after half an hour. Different strokes, right?
here yee, grand oak and mremeet, you hit the nail on the head.
And what do you think the answer will be? Pretty much seems like a no brainer to me!
Not much different than good ol' Rosie advocating gun control while her body guards are heavily armed! That's the problem with these folks, credability, or do as we say not as we do!
Moore's movie advocates that socialized healthcare be fully adopted in the US (although we already have a quasi-socialized healthcare system right now). But one question: When the multi-millionaire Michael Moore or someone he loves dearly gets sick (especially seriously sick), will he be standing in line with all of us "little people" dealing with the shortcomings of socialized medicine? Because incompetence, indifferent bureacrats, substandard service, long waiting times, overcrowded clinics is what we'll get.
Or will Moore simply hire a full panel of rock star doctors and receive immediate, expedited, private, top quality priority service that accesses the finest facilities, labs and equipment? And if he's not satisfied with the care he's getting, will he not simply exercise his option to fire his doctor and immediately get another one? Of course he will, and so will any of the rich, powerful, influential politicians who also advocate socialized healthcare. Be very wary and mistrustful of rich, famous, politically powerful people who advocate policies that they themselves have absolutely no intention of participating in or being subjected to (and that goes for politicians on both the left and the right).
No thanks, I've learned that his documentaries are not truly documentaries but montages of manipulated images and sound bites to project the message he wants to convey.
Thanks for the reminder about the movie coming out. I definitely want to see it.
It looks interesting. I will watch it and look up the website to post about fears and concerns regarding treating and stress associated with being totally dependent on insurance that seems to be only concerned about $$ .
