NASH

At my 6 week check up after I had my baby I told my  OB-GYN that I was having weird pains in my head and that I got dizzy.  She did some blood work and it showed my liver enzymes were elevated.  I went to my family doctor and he did more bloodwork to confirm this.  I then had an ultrasound and my doctor said I have a fatty liver/NASH disease.  Is this something that can be reversed?  I don't know what my levels were exactly but I think he said they weren't really high.  I'm very concerned as I just had a baby.  Is this a fatal disease?

Thanks for your thoughts.  I've been doing my research on the disease and I'm definitely anxious...to say the least.   I see my doctor tomorrow and hopefully get answers to the questions I have.  I'm hoping it's just related to me having my baby 3 months ago and that it will clear up on its own.  I'm not even sure if that's an option, but hopefully it's not very serious.  Thanks

OK - I don't know ANYTHING about this disease - but here are a couple of links.

Most of us here are Hepatitis People --- with about 95% being HepC related.

But like HCV and HEPB - it looks like NASH can indeed turn into cirrhosis.

I think at the begining stages, you're fine - but you need to take complete care of your symptoms - and keep your body clean and healthy.

So - be careful - and let us know how things go...

Good luck voly - and don't panic... The liver has a slow acting progression. Read up, become informed and get involved.
