Help! My tongues on fire!!

Hi all,

I am at week 15 of pegasys and I've recently been having very painful red sores all over my tongue. Especially around the outside. Not only is it getting impossible to eat even the blandest of foods, but it's getting very hard to speak. (some might say that's an asset)  :)  When any movement occurs in my mouth, it is unbearible!!  It's like my tongue is trapped in an inferno, with the feel of dry ice pulling the skin off when I move it inside my mouth.

There doesn't appear to be any blistering except a small spot on my bottom inside lip. (least of the symptoms).  But today I notice that my throat is getting sore which makes me want to swallow more, and unforturately the morer I swallow, the more my tongue hurts!

Anybody know anything about this. Been using salt water, non alchohol mouth wash, but nothing seems to bring any relief except a few shots of vick's chloroseptic which is very temporary.

Any and all advice would be greatly helpful.

With love and appreciation for all you wonderful people,
Foggy

I also had the same issue. I used what GSD girl did and it did help alot.
I know how annoying it is.

Hi, I used liquid maalox and liquid benadryl mixed in equal parts.  Swish and spit.  Worked for me.  Good Luck

I had a very similar experience on treatment - finally the doctor diagnosed a thrush infection and treated me with Fluconazole. I took 1 tablet a day for 3 days and then 150mg once a week until the end of treatment.  It really helped. I still couldn't eat anything spicey or sugary though.

I had a very sore tounge when i started treatment. i went to an integrative family medicine doctor who told me to rinse my mouth with a few drops of liquid folic acid in water. I rarley get a sore mouth anymore. I still cannot eat hot spicy foods, which i used to love, and cannot taste very much, but no more sorenes.

This is just what worked for me.
