New here!

Hey all I just found this forum and I suspect I will have a lot of ?'s for you all. I have gone through the shots and ribaviran in '02 but quit at 7 months. I got to my head and I was starting fights and such on the job. Was on meds for that but didn't help so I took myself off. That was a big mistake cuz here I am again and have to go all over cuz my levels are up.
I think I remember that I shouldn't get my wife pregnant on these drugs. Is that true? Not that sex will be on the forefront of my mind but you know.......
So anyway I start again just after the first of the year. I am nervous I heard it is much worse this time:(

Extreme care must be taken to avoid pregnancy during therapy and for 6 months after completion of therapy in both female patients and in female partners of male patients who are taking Ribavirin therapy.

Hi Jel,
I pasted that from the above post for emphasis. Be extremely careful.

Good luck to you, hope you get the necessary support to get through treatment. There are a lot of good threads that were created in the last 6 months about dealing with the side effects of triple therapy. Take a good look, the information will  be invaluable to you.

"I think I remember that I shouldn't get my wife pregnant on these drugs. Is that true?"

Significant teratogenic and/or embryocidal effects have been demonstrated in all animal species exposed to Ribavirin. In addition, Ribavirin has a multiple dose half-life of 12 days, and it may persist in non-plasma compartments for as long as 6 months. Therefore, Ribavirin, including Ribavirin tablets, is contraindicated in women who are pregnant and in the male partners of women who are pregnant. Extreme care must be taken to avoid pregnancy during therapy and for 6 months after completion of therapy in both female patients and in female partners of male patients who are taking Ribavirin therapy. At least two reliable forms of effective contraception must be utilized during treatment and during the 6 month post treatment follow-up period
