I'd love to participate in a study to make the distinction between the psychological effects of the individual’s knowledge of being infected with HCV, and the effects of the virus itself.
I was led to several doctors (first primary physicians and then to specialists) for mysterious pain, fatigue, etc.two years before my hcv dx. I was eventually dx'd with fibro and hcv at the same time, by a rheumatologist.
The following links are a lot newer than 2003 and 2007. I'm not disagreeing, but wondering how this will all play out as progress is made in cures for hcv. I'm also wanting to be supportive of people who have been told "it's all in your head". I can only imagine how that feeds one's already real depression.
An Overview of Extrahepatic Manifestations of Hepatitis C (May 2011, for all kinds of conditions that now may have a connection to HCV)

A collection of studies and abstracts from 2009-2010; which lends merit to the connection between the hepatitis c virus and fibromyalgia.

"Many individuals with chronic hepatitis C virus remain symptom free for the majority of their lives. HCV can remain asymptomatic for a decade or longer. However, chronic fatigue is among the most common presenting symptoms. Fatigue has been reported in up to 67% of individuals with chronic HCV and is the most frequent extrahepatic manifestation in those infected with HCV. It has been suggested that one’s awareness of positive HCV status alone increases the experience of fatigue and depression.3 This necessitates that a distinction be made between the psychological effects of the individual’s knowledge of being infected with HCV, and the effects of the virus itself. This can't be a coincidence. I know several people who were diagnosed with Fibromyalgia prior or at around the time of treating. Some even discovered they had Hepatitis C when seeing doctors to find out what is wrong with them at the time - which turned out to be diagnosed as Fibromyalgia
I'm one of those who believes that yes, fatigue is a symptom of hcv, as well as other symptoms. I was dx'd with fibromyalgia and hcv simultaneously and thought it odd that all of my symptoms were attributed to the fibro when in fact that didn't have a clue as to what fibro was. At the time (and maybe still) the only way to dx fibro is by ruling out every other medical condition, there was/is not definitive test for it. I always found it interesting that they didn't attribute the symptoms to the "real" verifiable medical condition I did have of hcv. There is more coming out about that connection, and connections to other medical conditions, that may or may not be more likely attributed to hcv. With the success rates of clearing hcv they are also noting symptoms and medical conditions are "cured" as the hcv is cleared. They are watching the numbers and correlations.
Hi and welcome to the forum.
I am assuming you have been diagnosed with the Hepatitis C Virus (HCV). Tired? I have heard folks say that prior to treating they experienced certain symptoms such as fatigue even though HCV is supposed to be asymptomatic. Maybe it has something to do the degree of liver inflammation and staging of fibrosis. I will let someone else address that since not knowing more of the facts, your post is a bit vague.
Also, do you mean treatment for the virus in general or help with treatment while one is takes the medication to treat the virus? Either way there is all kinds of help here and someone may be able to offer more meaningful insight on what you are asking if you could perhaps be a little more specific in your next post.
