You have nothing to worry about.  No need for testing.  You are 1000x more likely to have gotten the clap than HCV.

I have been with my boyfriend for 6 years and we have had sex on my period, after my period, and he is negative. The risk is there of course, but my doctor told me if I stabbed myself with a needle and then someone else they would only have a 3% chance of getting it and my doctor is head of the viral hepatitis program. Just get tested routinely. She should try and get treatment. There is over a 90% cure rate now.

The matter of sexual transmission is a controversial one.

However the evidence is that it is spread from men to women and from man to man.

That you bring up sharing needles is very concerning. You may have to reconsider your lifestyle and get tested yourself. In the scenario presented, no one should be sharing needles, toothbrushes, razors.

Nevertheless, do not smoke (anything), eat properly, and avoid alcohol at all cost. Smoking and drinking, in particular is very dangerous.

GET TESTED.

I would still get tested. If you know your girlfriend has HCV why not wear a condom especially if she has her period?

I know you will read and hear from people about "blood to blood" only way of transmitting,  but there are many people that don't know how they got it. HCV is a very resilient disease, best to err on the safe side.

Do NOT share razors or toothbrushes. These are proven ways to transmit HCV.

Everyone IMO should be tested at one time or another for HCV,especially one that has come in contact with HCV infected blood, however given the scenario you describe the transmission would be unlikely.
