DonL  You had some really good rules! And yes,,,great idea,,Proof your post people and ask yourself if you will feel good tomorrow about what you send today in haste?? Will someone benefit from your post or be hurt?

And yes,,,lighten up folks!!! That is not a comment to anyone in particular so don't take it that way either. Its directed to me and everyone,,,
Most of us are on meds and need support,,sometimes not just HCV support,,,but emotional!!  Seems like when things go bad here,,,,they go really bad quick!!  I see where people have been hurt and offended and left! Everyone of you are great and valuable assets to the board so pleaseeee....Come back and lets get back to what we all need and come here for!!!

tonyz....Hey and DANG< I almost forgot to post to you. SEE! I still have "brain fog"! Indy swears I am a blonde...( no attacks on blondes...LOL ). But I had stomach problems like you referred too in a previous post. I went to my GP and he gave me samples of protonix...and has been for about 1 and 1/2/ yrs now. I don't need them still...but shhhhhh, LOL I get them for my second Mother who is dying of cancer. She has to take them everyday and I can save her $117.00 a month! But back to to "stomach"! Mine hurt soooo bad, but as soon as I started taking Protonix..the pain ended! To me it was a "miracle" drug. I can now use TUMS to tke care of any indigestion now. Try it...and I hope it helps. You will remain in my prayers!!!! (((HUGS))) Cindee

honey....My Dear honey, What can I say? Your post above was great! I havent been here in a few days, just because of all the "bickering". I too have my "doubts" about who is who??? LOL But I'm not going to let it rent space in my mind...what's left of it??? LOL But I don't think anyone should sign in as a Doctor....it sure can MESS up the newbies!!!! I want to say..you are a wonderful person...full of kindness, love, caring and help! I can say that about a whole lot of people, but it would take up a whole thread to do it!!!!!! I just want the forum to GET BACK TO IT'S OLD SELF!!!!  The days of "whine @ roses" !!!!! LOL I wanted to post answers to a lot of ppl's questions...but couldn't because all the threads were takin up w/ all the bickering...back @ forth! I know I haven't been the "greatest" on here some days...but I have learned to skip any comments to the nasty posts! Right now all I want is.....COTTON CANDY!!!!!! LOL But it's 1:15am and hubby would just die, if I left to go out and get some this time of morning....he's in the bed and it would scare him too death to "hear" my car leave!!!! LOL Love ya bunches! Cindee

silvermoon!!!!! Hey you! I read the info on hep...on the site you posted..CNN! WOW, wouldn't it be great for some one to discover a vaccine for hep????? I've often wondered about the stem cells too! TY for the great info. And I think it is wonderful that CNN is reporting on Hep, as soooooo many ppl watch CNN!!!!! I'd love to see them do a story on it! In fact I am going to their web to ask them too! Talk to ya soon! Hope you are doing okay. I "pray" you will find the RIGHT doctor SOON!!! You need too. I will pray esp. for that, for you! I love ya gal! PS A BIG THANK YOU FOR EVERYONE WHO IS GOING TO E-MAIL MY GRAND-DAUGHTER ON HER BIRTHDAY!!!! She is going to be so surprised!!!! Much love @ Many prayers, Cindee

darrinwade, Hi and welcome! I haven't posted to you before now. I am sorry to hear this tx is kicking your butt! But if it's any consulation, "BEEN THERE, DONE THAT!" You hang in there..you can do it! Get your doctor...I used my GP (since HE was the one who diagnoised me w/ Hep C )   to refer me to a pain specialist...1st question I asked..even before my apptmt date, was, "do you treat many Hep patients there"? Their answer was YES! So I went in with a "very GOOD feeling of confidence" w/ my doctors there! I want to wish you the BEST thoughout your roller coaster ride! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!! And it's worth the ride! Best wishes to you...sending lots of prayers up for YOU and ALL my fellow HEPPERS!!!!! (((HUGS))) Cindee

Joni,Hi! I finished tx last Nov. I still have trouble w/ breathing sometimes...like yesterday...I found my handy puffer! I don't use it much and actually had my hubby read experation date! LOL I don't like the "puffer" as it makes me so nervous @ shakey! I do however agree w/ drail, about sx lasting up to a year. One of my doctors already told me that...it was my physcologist @ my pain center. He does extensive research on Hep C, because they treat a lot of Hep c patients there. Actually he says the sx can last for up to 2 yrs. I have tissue damage and fibromyalgia now. I never had either of the 2 before! I hope this post helps ya...as before I realized I still have that "puffer"...I went outdoors and took a lot of deep breaths..I was also ready to find a "brown paper bag" to breathe into. I wish you the best and I pray you feel better soon. love @ prayers, Cindee

Gulfcoast, hey there! I read your post below...."thought for the day". It was funny..because it's soooooooo true! Great info there! I hope you are doing okay and you are always in my prayers. much love, Cindee

Hello,I must say as a newbie here I was really turned off by all the anger here. You can just scroll past anyone you don't want to hear from.
But: I will lurk a little longer.A lot of people swear by peanut butter with their Ribavirin,I think its just the fat in it that helps the tummy.I have been a tums and pepto man for years, and I have tried every script there is.
I am still new at treatment(# 11)tomorrow,but I must say for anyone starting for the first time on Pegasys,It has been very doable.I have also had a transplant and most of us are never able to finish treatment due to the sides.
I started drinking over a gallon of fluid(Crystal lite)about a month before treatment and improved my diet with fruits and veggies and very little red meat, very hard on the liver.I never have drank caffiene but the only reason I was told to avoid it is because it can worsen sides, like headaches, but I talk to a lot of coffee drinkers who have refused to quit and they are fine.
Just my two cents,
Michael in KC

Hey guys, it looks slow today so I will throw this in:

I spend a few years as a guest of our fine government. As I stated once here before the Gov and myself had a different idea of the proper procedures of how money should travel globally. We fought and they won. Darn! I spent most the time in a medium/high security prison. I was in solitary for six months, 6x8, 24/7 lock down due to a few

When I had my run in that first week on tx. I had stomach acid bubbling in my throat..Woke up at night, having to spit, it was awful.. I know what you are talking about, as I always have bad gastro problems.. Have done testing, and they say nothing is wrong. Yet, every morning, I spit, cough, and throw up stomach acid..
I have tried lots of stuff. Over the counter, and Rx.. What I found to work was Rx Zantac.. I know it works, as I would take it, then throw up later, and there was no burn from the stomach acid.. Hows that for testing???
As far as peanut butter, I have heard different stories. Nurse at Scherring told me toast with peanut butter, threw that up.. Nurse at my Dr's office told me that was completely wrong, as it is too greasy, and increases nausea and sx's.. You are supposed to stay away from greasey foods.. Hey, everybody is different, and what works for one might not work for the other.. Hope you get some relief, as I know how uncomfortable that can be..

wow that was an amazing account lou.....what an incredible use of time you made of it all.  friend of mine managed to get his masters while inside and then others like my ex husband, managed only to make new and better connections....guess, we all have a choice as to how we use our time and sounds like yours was 'time..........well spent!!'......

hey maybe you know of a couple of brothers, i know in costa rica , they had a wee bit of a problem a few years ago...and many are still reeling as a result.  i usually live down there in the winter, lots of my friends live there full time, although some have had to move back to the states or canada after the boys had to go seperate ways....hummm, trials and tribulations abound

thanks for sharing about your experiences

Someone once said that ribavirin is more effective if you have a food with some fat in it.During my 48/48 I took my morning riba with a couple of spoons of vanilla yogurt and experienced few stomach problems. However, previous to tx I frequently had acid stomach and since finishing tx the acid stomach has returned. I did'nt choose yogurt that was labeled low fat. Good luck.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Can't we all just get along?
Did my second shot last night. So far, so good. I guess I must have slept through any sx. I know this probably won't last but I'm enjoying it while I can.
Also, I was thrilled to hear your great news! You go girl!

I had the same stomach problem starting about 6 weeks into tx.  Doc diagnosed acid reflux and prescribed Nexium.  Worked like a charm only I still need it almost a year later.  Oh, well.  That and a small cataract seem to be the only lasting side effects and I cleared HCV so I am good to go.

Michael,,,I agree with the diet as I do seem to feel better the days that I eat fruits and drink lots of water, juices etc  I still drink coffee in mornings about a cup or 2 and would only give up if I really felt bad or like you said,,,it can cause headaches...  I try to take my pills in evening about 9 and eat yogurt before taking,,,if I don't take anything I do get a stomachache.

Lou,,,Thanks for being so kind!! haha I didn't mean YOU couldn't type on "my thread" as its not mine anyways LOL  But Hepper said it smelled like poo and I wondered "why"  hahaha Ohhh well,,,maybe I don't need to know   Hey,,,I have to agree with Ring on your experience and thanks so much for sharing.  I can only imagine how trying that would be and you could either make it or it could break you!!  You always come at the positive angle and that is what is going to get you through this period and then I imagine,,,,,You would love to have a much needed break!  Take Care Lou

Read your comment, and just wanted to say that the first shot was DEFINITELY the worst! Got better after that. Take your Tylenol before shot, and after for pain/fever. Drink water, and have some food in your stomach w/ Riba.

Good Luck to You!
