i didn't know I was logged in either, sorry.
I did 21 weeks for HCV 2a and am 3 mos out (and UND so far), but my relatively thin hair fell out starting at about 14 weeks and continued until amonth after I stopped .I lost a LOT of hair, started using Nioxin, tried Kerastase, but I don't think either did much good. It was awful and I finally cut it short. It's now growing back in Chia Pet style and i have to use hairspray to get it to stay down. It still seems very thin though. I have a good friend who went through this 3 years ago and hers is finally the way it was before.

I treated for 13 weeks and only after stopping did my hair start to fall out.  This continued for a month or so.  Now, seven months later, I'm happy to report that all is back to normal.  Also my curly hair became straight for a while, and I got terrible dandruff but it's all back to the way it was before.

Has the doctor checked your TSH levels recently?  The interferon killed my thyroid and one of the major side effects from that is hair loss. Actually all of the sides are just like treatment sides so you really can't tell unless the number comes back off.

I lost about 75% of my hair but it did stop shedding and shredding right after tx.

Good luck.

This is a good question , because I stopped tx. maybe a month ago, I was on it for only 12 wk.s andhad to go off for being a slow responder, Anyway, my hair has started coming out in clumps for 3 wk.s now and I have fine hair to begin with. I am wondering too, about post hair. My ex- husband went on tx. 5 yrs. ago, and lost alot of his hair, eye brows too. He has had a full head of hair now when I last saw him a few months ago. When i ask him about anything pertaining to rx. he can't remember all, he says.

I'd be interested to now if the hair comes back, or re-thickens too, after treatment. My hair also feels lifeless and brittle, for me it started around week 20, but the decline seems to have slowed down (I am around week 33 now). Fortunately for me, I had lots of hair to start with, so while this has given me a more "aged" look, it is not the end of the world.

Sorry for the empty post (didn't realize I was already logged in).

I read somewhere that rogaine is not effective against IFN-induced hair loss.  It is available as topical treatment, but I don't know how much systemic absorption you get across the skin.

I don't know, I'm not that far into treatment, but I'd be curious to know if anyone has tried mioxodal or rogaine to help with this, and what the result are, or whether the blood pressure concerns weight against it and what docs say.
It seems the most logical approach to try to help with this, but there are undoubtedly a few containdications. ANybody?
