I test positive for hep c.I had a 2nd test done and my viral load was 0.

I am also asking this question as I want to take courses in phlebotomy. Does this affect me in the career choice I am taking
I also need to add that I did not have treatment. My family Dr. told me my immune system must have taken care of it.
Is that possible?

About 25% of people who are exposed to hep c are able to beat it on their own without treatment.

They will forever test positive for antibodies but will test negative for the virus. This is likely what has happened in your situation.

I have never seen a zero viral load as the LLOQ of most tests is less than 15 IU/mL lower than that the test will report not detected which is what my HCV RNA by PCR test reports.

Anyway having hep c is not a bar to employment in the U.S. and you do not have hep c only antibodies.

If you are not in the U.S. I understand from other posters from other countries mearly having a positive antibody test can be a bar to immigration and employment.

Good luck with your education
