My husband found the worst of the Procrit to be the injection itself... a little stinging, but as others said, warming it to room temp took a lot of that away, and injecting slowly. Low hgb is definitely a drag, and though it takes Procrit a few weeks to act, when it does, you should feel significantly better. My husband only had good side effects, as they say.
He also found doing his Procrit shots in the belly (since he did his Interferon shots in the leg) made it easier to find a new site. Because he needed Procrit 2 times a week, we just alternated to avoid it being the same night as the Interferon, though if you prefer to do that, it's fine too. Hope you feel better soon! ~eureka
Warm the vial in your hands before you draw it up into the syringe, that way it won't sting as much when you inject. I had some bone pain from procrit but at least I got my hgb up a little bit. It takes a couple of weeks to work so give it some time. You will feel a whole lot better when it starts working. Good luck.
Procrit saved me! I was on week 6 and my hemoglobin was at 9.1. I couldn't walk even 1/4 block without a pounding chest and becoming breathless. Was tired beyond words. The procrit helped, nearly immediately.
Never had any problems with procrit, just always let it warm to room temp and inject it slowly. Takes alot of the sting out......... Good luck
Let me know, we're trying to get an rx, but I had my first shot today. Hope it pumps us up some! Others have had great results w few se.
Karen :)
I was doing infergen shots daily and once a week doing procrit. I just shot it like the other shot into fat, the only side effect was sore at the spot of injection, but some say let it get to room temp before shooting it. Joe
I never had any bad side effects that I know of from procrit. It could take 3-4 weeks for it to take full effect. It is not a over night fix. i dont take mine on the same day I take my interferon shot. just do it the same way you take the interferon shot. good luck and I hope you get to feeling better soon. anemial is really tough!
