Procrit

Can anyone tell the threshold you need to cross before they put you on procrit? And what is the determining factor - RBC, hemoglobin, or hemanacrit or some combo?

Procrit cost about $6,000 per box of ten.  some of us need to take it twice a week so as you can see it is much more costly then you imagine.  The threshold is under 10 but it depends on your doctor. I have incredible insurance and had trouble getting it to go through - they finally put it through as generic (epogen) and it worked.

But it's not always so easy to get fast, insurance doesn't really want to let you have it if they dont have to.

It wouldn't make sense for an insurance company to spend all this money on triple therapy and then deny procrit.  I couldn't imagine that at all........

Wow. Mine is high at 10 and I feel like a zombie. Today was week 5 on triple tx. My insurance company has been really good, so I don't expect to get push back if I need the procrit. This is my second try at beating this dreaded virus and I was on neupogen for close to 40 weeks and my insurance covered that. Good luck to you
