What do I do now that I don't have the Virus

I contracted Hep C Jan 1 2005 when, or soon after having had oral sex with a women that had it for a long time as it turns out. I went through the treatment March 06- March 07 and it was Pegentron and now I have the Anti-body in my blood not the virus correct.MCB

You did what you could at least you thought about it, I had some risky behavior now that I look back and I am just grateful hep c is all  I got.  And it is true you can do everything right and still get something.  I'm just growing weary of this human condition, I dont know if we are learning.  Although I saw a video stream in Madison Wisconsin and it was inspiring.  There is inspiration out there you just have to find it and we have to learn from our mistakes.
may you live a healthy happy life

You can say that again Mary, but you still should keep a check cause we are obligated to others to try to protect them. But I fear that people who dont protect themselves dont really try to protect others. I do. I ve never let no one do anything we me that I thought was possible for them to get anything. Even when I didnt know I had anything, I still didnt cause I knew I had been risky , even though it was just once, and that right there was enough for me to protect others. But I was told you could get Hep from using your own needles over and over. But I dont think so. But that time I shared, I did clean it with alcohol, but evidently it wasnt good enough. I found out that the guy I shared with does in fact have Hep, so even though I cleaned it, the virus still was passed and I know it had to be that time cause im not a risky person, never have been. But I know how my luck is, so from that point, i was really careful, even though I didnt know he had it. No one has ever shot after me. So, thats something for people to know as well, alcohol didnt do it for me so never share nothing.

I was so right...redman.....the name does preceed itself. Trust me, I know, I was right, so if anyone thinks they cant get it from oral sex , think again. But most do not have oral sex with a woman when she is bleeding, but if you do and she has anythang, your gettin it! It gets in the blood stream through the gums, if your gums are not in real good health that is. It really easy to talk about this now that I have a hysterectomy and dont have to worry bout this bloody issue anymore , but sorry for the ones who still do, I no where you are. But only reason I thought to comfirm it, cause all of the sudden out of no where, lol, it was confirmed to me via msg and I thought everyone should no, as I see some say oral sex pleeeeeseeeeee. It may have been confirmed to you guys via msg as well. Safe sex people!! That means oral sex as well. We are obligated to protect others.

Good observation sue! He does go by Redman!! LOL!! And to Goofy dad, I like my V8 and the graphic picture that I just had to paint 4everyone I will be thinking of when I drink my daily glass. I guess thats what I get huh? LOL!! But all kinding aside. I assume this may go on in real life and it could be a huge possibility cause menstraul blood is from what ive read a good carrier of the virus and it carries alot of it! So, for anyone reading, I wouldnt stay away from the bloody battles in any way shape or form. Yuck.. but I would think that would be the only way it could "possibly happen". And I wouldnt think that unless there is blood involved however that maybe, its just not possible!

Sorry 4 some who dont like the graphic pictures, but I assume everyone here is an adult! And I have no problem being real, never to be mistaken for negative or catastrophic...lol!

Precisely, Willy; that’s why I didn’t even address that aspect of his query originally.

Does this mean you were tested for HCV BEFORE your "exposure event"?

Even if you had been tested earlier (which for most people is unlikely), what is your proof that you got it from oral sex?

Maybe you did, it's possible, but IMHO you are simply calling it THE event when you probably really don't know, at least not for certain when the transmission took place.

I'm not trying to be too critical, but it is different saying that you got Hep C from oral sex versus saying one of your known risk factors was oral sex with a HCV positive womAn.

best,
Willy

You are one of the few that did get HCV from sex. People seem to forget that it is possible.  Like the others said if you are indeed clear of the virus and have only antibodies then nothing else has to be done. You dont say if you had PCR's done at 6 months & 1 year post treatment, personally I would get a PCR test just for my own peace of mind.
Best of luck

Oral sex Hep C transmission highly unlikely.  Did you ask this question four years ago ?

You shauld have been tested for a viral load (PCR or TMA test) 6 mos after completing treatment - Sept 07. Assuming that was neg. then you are good to go.

If no RNA virus is present, and you’re sure of that, then there shouldn’t be any additional action required on your part. If you had significant liver damage prior to therapy, your doctor might have suggested you refrain from alcohol; I assume you were counseled in that regard? Other than that, you should be done.

You’ll continue to test positive for antibodies; perhaps for life. These are not harmful or cause you to be contagious; they’re a product of your own immune response, and serve as a ‘fingerprint’ of the virus, but should not be confused with virus.

Good luck, and congratulations-
