Recent treatments and outcomes for Hep C, genotype 1B

I've just discovered this site and have decided to go through with the treatment.  What's the latest treatment and effects that others have experienced?

I too treated with Incivek and am in week 9 of 24 weeks. I was UND at week 4. Side effects come and go, but have been anorexia, which seems to be better the last two weeks, bad rash at first and comes and goes now, anal issues, some nausea that also comes and goes, and headaches, not bad, just those annoying ones. Just plain tired and a bit short of breath (probably from anemia). Many of the side effects can be treated, and all and all have not been too horrible. I drink tons of water, at least a gallon a day. I also take some supplements that my Dr has allowed, which has kept my anemia stable, there but stable. Your treatment time will depend on which treatment you go through and  your UND status.

Thank you for you response.  Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you.  I had a biopsy about 15 years ago, which confirmed I have the virus.  My G. doctor says that I'll need another one to determine the degree of damage to my liver.  On my first visit 3 weeks ago, he drew about a half gallon of blood (ha!), and I believe that part of the test was to check the viral load.  I have another appointment next week to talk about the results.

I'm very happy for your Undetectable news.  I'll check out the web site, too.  Thanks again for your help & support.  Good luck on your treatment.

I read your other post.

You already have a gastroenterologist, which is good.

Your treatment time will depend on your response to therapy and will be a minimum of 24 weeks (and possibly 48 weeks depending on your history and your response to treatment).  It appears you have never treated before.

Have you had a biopsy and what are those results?

Have you had a Viral Load test done?

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Here is a very good link to information about Hep C treatment:

http://www.clinicaloptions.com/Hepatitis/Treatment%20Updates/HCV%20New%20Agents/Module/Practical_Guide/Pages/Page%201.aspx

You need to keep pressing "next" (towards the top of the article) to get to all of the pages.

I treated with Incivek and am in week 29 of 48 weeks. I found the treatment doable even though there are side effects. My main side efects were nausea, rash, and some anal problems. If you get those side efects they can be treated with prescription medications. I have been Undetectable since week 8.

Best of luck to you.
