Hep C antibody test 21 weeks

Hello everyone,

I am wondering how accurate a rapid antibody test would be 21 weeks post exposure.  At risk of being graphic, the exposure was unprotected anal sex where I was the insertive partner.  The whole incident lasted about 5 seconds.  I know HCV is rarely transmitted through sex but I want to be careful.

I got a rapid antibody test at 21 weeks (147) post exposure and it came back negative.

I hear conflicting info about the window period.  Some say 12 weeks, some say 6 months.  I am wondering if I should go back in in 1 month for the final 6 month test just to put my mind at ease.  What are my chances here guys?

Thank you!

IMHO you are good to go, you can test again but I seriously doubt you will see any change

Sorry for the multi-post.  I can't find the edit button.  I meant to say that it is now 3 days shy of 21 weeks post exposure.

It was actually 21.5 weeks, so it would be about 3.5 weeks the 24 week threshold.  Do you still think I am home free?

At 21 wks you are good to go, 3 wks is not going to make a difference.

Have a great day
