There are medications for the itching. One if them is called Actigall. Brown urine is from jaundice due to the high bilirubin. Your sister needs be seen by a good hepatologist.
I got a prescription cream Fluocinonide and started to lcear and stopped itching almost immediately. I also use counter Eucerin original cream that comes in a jar. I try to drink 2 litres of water a day. I take a slightly warm to tepid to cold shower about every day. No more wonderful hot baths for me. The itching was getting unbearable until I found the Fluocinonide from a dermatologist. Good luck & prayers to your sister and you.
Just read the other post! I'll be praying for your Sister!
I bought T/Gel shampo by Neutrogena for my scabby head. It cleared it up in 2-3 days. Recently I tried using it as a body wash. Works. Just scabs right now. My whole back was covered and then my legs and it had started on my neck and chest. Try that!
Thank you, I'm calling her now. Unfortunately, I am pretty certain she does have severe liver damage. She has been to the emergency a couple of times and my feeling is that they (dr.s) are acting as if there is nothing to be done.
Hi again, I just read another entry that you made about your sisters urine etc...
PLEASE PLEASE GET HER TO THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT NOW! She may have severe liver damage, and liver flap with is poisons in her blood stream.
I'm begging you, I've been where she is, GET HER TO EMERG NOW. Annette
Hi, I too am going thru the "crack head" itching, scabby, nasties. I use the following:
Gold Bond Ultimate Moisturizing skin therapy lotion, then Aveeno Active Naturals, Skin Relief moisturizing Lotion (Blue) and then for the the HUGELY itchy, crack head sores etc... I use Aveeno Anti Itch Cream, (also blue) these were suggested by my Dr. as they are made with oats. Also, apparantly we're not to bathe more than 2 or 3 times a week! This will help keep the moisuture in our skin. Hope this helps, and good luck!! Annette
I'm no expert by far, but brown colored urine is a sign of anemia which explains the fatigue. We need to stay very hydrated.
I hope the best for your sis, hang in there.
Hugs,
lbl
Thanks for the recommendation about the gold bond. We did discuss her drinking more water yesterday. It seemed logical to me and today she will start drinking as much as she can handle. I hope she can get on a transplant list because from all indications her liver has gone down hill the last several months. Billirubin and Alkaline Phosphate are through the roof, brown colored urine, extreme fatigue, and the itching. I am sooo worried about her that I almost feel lucky to have hepc (compared to what she has).
Thanks again,
Lauren
I'm sorry to hear about your sis. I use gold bond cream and alot of cream. I make it a point to use a very thick one. Also on the days that I drink alot of water I tend to itch less. So lots of water. Rule of thumb-her weight divided by 2=number of oz. eg: 150pds divided 2=75oz I tend to drink at least 2 extra cups than required.
Hope this helps
