I am also pregnant and taking a multi vitimin..and it also contains Omega 3. My Doc said it was fine
I took more than that while I was on treatment w/ no ill effects. In fact, studies are showing that taking fish oil in sufficient quantity can help alleviate mild to moderate depression (along w/ other healthy live style choices) . To me, that's a nice hedge against tx's known side effect of depression. So long as your doc is monitoring you and has okayed what your taking you should be fine.
My doc suggests 3 X the dose you are taking along with lecithin and alpha lipoic acid to get ready for treatment.
Is your Dr. recommending you take the 3 supplements while on TX or are you supposed to stop when you get started?

As far as I know fish oil can be blood thinning so people who have a blood clotting problem
should be careful.
She says she keeps all her patients on these three supplements all the way through treatment.
Bali- Thanks for that. Even though Joe's platelets are very under par, he hasn't had any clotting problems,bruising/ bleeding so far.
Susie- Thanks, that is very interesting. I saw you post this before but needed clarification.
I have frequently wondered if the ALA is what kept Joe's ALT/AST in the normal range for the 60 plus weeks of his last TX. They weren't that good at all in his previous TX attempts.
What are you hearing about milk thistle on TX these days. Because of the fact that they made people feel better during the HALT C trial, I have been very curious to know if it has been decided to be safe for TX. I've seen a few posts that made me think that this was the case but not sure. Speaking for Joe, anything that made him feel better on TX would be so important to whether or not he could bare it again. On the other hand , it would be really stupid to take something that could louse up an already marginal response to interferon. I've wondered how soon someone will get around to trying Alinia with the new regime. It sure kicked up Joe's response a couple of notches. If you could use that and the PI, I'd see some real hope instead of more suffering for naught. Of course, I'd have to convince Joe that he could handle diarrhea for another 48 weeks...maybe better scratch that idea. :>l
