Thank you,, I soaked in Aveno this morning, it got really bad last night, my knuckles, knees and elbows. Also, the sole of my feet feel like I have blisters or like I have walked across scolding hot pavement. Kind of a pins and needles type buring, what could that be about?
Hi, I have the Riba rash and the trial nurse and pharmacist told me to drink lots of water as being hydrated helps your skin. They also had me use hydrocortisone cream and have me moisturizing with Aveeno twice a day (morning and night). I get the rash on my legs, knees and elbows. Doing what they recommended has kept it under control. The Aveeno also helps with the injection "burns" that I get with the Interferon. Definitely ask your doctor for help as we all need as little stress as possible during tx and really don't need to feel itchy and sore.
Thanks guys, it hurts more than itches. Kinda' strange, I am going to take 1 Benadryl tonight, and I bough Aveno stuff. I am going to the doctor ASAP next week. It is symetrical though, both hands, both elbows, both knees, ect. I really appreciate all of your comments.
I had been suffering from the most horribly itchy rash the past three days as well. The only thing I found to help was my 6 month old's prescription diaper rash ointment. I am not sure if it is available nationally, but would be worth checking into. It's called Zabb-3. The main active ingredients are aquaphore, silver sulfadiazine, and domeboro astringent.
I put a thin layer over the rash and left it on for about 5 hours. The relief was instant, and the itch has not came back since applying this ointment at 11 p.m. last night. All of the little itchy bumps have almost completely dried up as well, and that was just using it 1 time.
Good luck to all.
Best advice I can give you is go and see a dermatologist and don`t wait.
You will have a professional monitor that situation and you will have less
to worry about. Skin issues can be very unnerving....
I was glad I did although I should have gone sooner.
i use a cream my doctor prescribed. it is fluocinonide 0.05%. it really works for me. also at night i take 1/2 a benadryl tablet. it relieves the itch so i can sleep. and remember LOTS of water. take care, belle
Good advice from the posters above; my husband developed a rash, and initially the hydrocortisone and benadryl worked well topically, and during the sunny days he absolutely slathered on sunscreen. However, it got to a point a month in where it just got too bad to manage with lotions, and his doc gave him a prescription for Atarax... he still itched some, but the rx kept the rash under control for the remainder of treatment. Good luck to you!
Be sure to drink plenty of water to make sure you're well hydrated. Avoid hot showers and rubbing - some do oatmeal baths. Also avoid the heat/sun/sweating, since that will make things worse. I often have itchy patches which I trt with otc cortisone creams. Antihistimines can also help, like benedryl or claritin. As Will mentioned there's prescribed meds that can deal with the more serious rashes if needed.
I'm glad to see its getting cooler which will keep the sweating down while outdoors. Best wishes to you as you get rolling.
Ok, Thanks Will, i always appreciate your quick response. I have had a bit of anxiety too, trying to meditate or breath better. I do injection #2 tonight.
If it is bothering you ask your doctor to prescribe the steroid cream "Triamcinolone " It often gives relieve.
good luck with finally starting..:)
