Side effects

How long after Pegasys/Riba/Boceph treatment ending does it take for the side effects to go away? This is my last week of treatment (finally!!!) and I am ready to get back to my life.

Congrats on finishing treatment. In my case I felt incredibly the next day after my last riba.My blood count came back to normal range within 2 weeks, feeling of depression totally gone 3 weeks after my last peg shot.My energy levels went up rapidly,my mind was as clear as ever, slept better even though I some night swets lingering on.Hadn't felt that great in years. Then week 6 treatment sx kick back in,dizzyness and foggy brain, short term memory lost, muscle and joint pains, chest pains, liver pains, bad vision. That lasted until week 12,since then just little dizzy spells once in a while and some muscle pains come and go.I'm now 16 weeks post treatment and can say I had some great improvements comparing to pre treatment. So it's a little different for everyone.

Well, I felt immediately better, as soon as I finished Treatment, except one strange thing: I had quite a bit of hair loss, from about 6 weeks to 9 wks post Tx.
That stopped by 10 wks.  Psychologically, I felt
alot better afer I got my 12 wk post Tx Undetected viral load test. The waiting and suspense caused me much anxiety.

I finished 48 weeks of treatment on August 25, 2012. Most of my side effects are gone, but I still have a few. I feel great, even with the few side effects I have left. What I noticed was they lessened in intensity as the days went by. Then at some point I would realize a certain side effect was gone. Then another and another. They just keep disappearing, but not all at once, and it is gradual. At least that is what I found. I also found that it is a little uneven, just like they are while on treatment. I might feel good one day and not quite as good another. However, every day gets better. One thing I will say and that is that I feel better than I have felt for the past 19 years. Hopefully your side effects will all disappear as the days wear on.

One thing to keep in mind is that everyone is different and some people feel better faster than other people. Some people have told me that it takes months to get totally back to normal. So it probably helps if we take it day by day.

My hepatologist said it can take up to three months for all the side effects to vanish. But most of us feel better within a short time.
Be patient.

First, congrats on eot.  It's a wonderful feeling being done, knowing the hardest part is over.  Just as the side effects may vary, so does the recovery period.  Some have commented that after one month they don't feel much better, while with others it happens much faster.

The first thing I noticed after eot was the cough went away very quickly.  The fatigue began to slowly disappear after a few weeks and was better after one month and much better after two months.  It took about 3-4 weeks for all the cbc's to get back into range.  Be patient, it will happen.
