For 2 days now I have been using Vanos cream and Salkera foam as directed by dermatologist on my tx rashes on both lower legs and they are improving rapidly.
I also used your recommendation from some older posts to use olive oil as a
moisterizer and it works really well. You just have to be careful not to use too
much but my skin is soaking it.

I'd just use as directed, a couple of weeks on a steroid can settle things down when all else fails, but the stuff is hard on liver as well as immune system, so try to wean off it after a while.
also, don't go in the sun if you are any cream with steroids in it...you can end up with permanent brown spots if you do.
the vanos will help if you are reacting allergically, I'm not sure that if it's a hydration issue it will.
The way the riba works is it accelerates some of the metabolics and amongst them it effects the lung lining and the adipose tissue (fat layer) and the brain of course and it's serotonin.
I know I read 70% of riba goes to the brain, but I swear it felt like the other 30% went to my skin...it felt like little ants, or like little munchkin virons were on the inside sucking all my fat out in their milkshakes...through little teeny straws.
I know they hate the riba, and the virons just coat themselves in as much fat as they can find to try and survive...but the way it felt was like my skin was being drained dry.  That's why I said try and hydrate the skin, same with the brain, try to keep the serotonin up....it's not funny but most folks end up on more drugs to treat the side effects of treatment, than the drugs for the tx itself.

I know what you mean!  This accesss to information is a blessing/curse for the obsessive personality (who me?)   I don't think that you have to worry unless you are bathing in the stuff.  If it is the ointment version, my derma suggested putting some cool water on the surface of your skin before applying it.  Good luck!!!

Yes that`s it . Fluocinonide.
They gave me a couple of samples at the dermatologist  and my insurance is covering it.
I used the little sample and it appears to help some.
What I am concerned about is getting any medicine into my body that potentially
messes with my immune sytem right now.
It is hard to know if I am just paranoid or if there might be something to it.

Just checked and it seems to be a brand name for fluocinonide.  I'm pretty sure that there are generic versions of this that may be less expensive.

thanks viaduk

just read this about Vanos cream on their website:

Important Safety Information for VANOS Cream
•Treatment should not exceed two weeks or 60 grams per week, because the safety of using VANOS Cream beyond two weeks has not been established and because it may reduce levels of hormones that regulate your body's immune system and energy levels (HPA-axis suppression).

I am certainly not looking to reduce immune system regulating hormones.
The last thing I need is a weakend immune system.

I garantee you  if I ask the nurse tomorrow at hepa office they won`t have a clue.

Never did hear of Vanos, but like Willing,  all the lotions and potions that the hep doc and dermatologist threw at me did not help. The UV treatments were a blessing!!!  It's a fine balance, cause too much sunlight can result in that dreaded riba rash, but if the Vanos cream doesn't do the trick you may want to ask the dermatologist about this.

While most of my skin issues have resolved by stopping tx, the psoriasis still acts up if I don't get weekly UV light, either at the dermatologist's or natural  sunlight (tough to find during the NY winter).

40 of 48!!! You are almost home now.  I am thinking of you, and hoping for that well deserved SVR.

Thanks W
It started around wk30 that I remember.
Following the advise of forum members from different forums preventatively I started
early on in tx with moisterizing. I have several bottles of the NYgirl recommended
Gold Bond stuff and several other lotions.Best time to moisterize is right after
you shower because it locks in the moister.

In my case it has not become a total nightmare yet but I noticed it started spreading
so I need to act on it.

As usual the most important thing is to get the correct dx.

I have been putting on NYSTATIN and TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE Ointment
for 4weeks twice a day only to find out that it was not the right stuff for me.
In the meantime it got worse.

Anyway VANOS Cream is a corticosteroid (steroid hormone) and I never heard of it
so I wanted to see if anyone on tx got this stuff.

When did this start getting out of control? I had a rough time with psoriasis last time and the only thing that helped was UV at the specified frequency, none of the creams made a dent.

This time I saw a derma in advance and he said there was nothing to be done in preparation  but recommended  applying  lotion generously several times a day to all affected areas - never let them get dry. I've been doing this and so far so good, but it could be I just haven't gotten to that part of the ride yet. For me, it's a significant part of the tela/boce decision. Good luck, as this thread shows, it's not a fun sx. There are very few places to go to get out of your skin.

Thank you for your feedback. There is nothing like getting something that works.
Obviously did not work for me and I am glad I went out today to seek help
from a specialst.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Yes Vanos is totally insanly expensive.
I got some coupons and signed up with some discount service , plus my
insurance covers so  it ended up within reason.
Hope this will do it.

"What makes you say that ?"

Because it worked like a miracle for me.  My forearms were covered in an itchy rash that was throwing me into a murderous rage.  Two applications, itch gone.  Twice a day for two more days, nothing but some slight discoloration where once there was the scourge of Satan himself.

after weeks of trying endless lotions i found the vanos here. it turned things around real fast but was very expensive. i mixed a little crisco in to spread better but it was a miracle after weeks of despair. stay away from heat, hot showers and baths saunas etc.

What makes you say that ?
That`s what the PA at my hepa`s office gave me .
(NYSTATIN and TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE Ointment)
Did that for 4 weeks with no improvement so I decided
to see dermatologist today who rx`d Vanos cream and Salkera foam
saying that should take care of it fairly quickly.
Will see ...
This is what it says on Vanos cream website:
------------------
What causes psoriasis? Psoriasis is caused by the immune system, especially a type of white blood cell called a T cell. Normally, T cells help protect the body against infection and disease. In the case of psoriasis, however, T cells are activated by mistake and trigger other immune responses, which lead to inflammation and rapid turnover of skin cells.

Sounds like something from the INF Dept.
