I have been pouring hydrogen peroxide on my rash. It stings for a bit, but it seems to help the itching. Don't blot it on, POUR it on. Also, at night Tylenol PM helps me. Today my doc Rx'd me Triamcinalone(sp?). I have not filled it yet so I can't tell you if it works. Other than that I simply scratch myself, sometimes to the point of bleeding.
Hydroxyz Hcl RX only it works
oatmeal baths, gold bond lotion, benydral
I had to use peroxide on my mouth bumps. It was the only thing that could keep them at bay - I would put it on a Qtip and then leave it on the site for a minute. Man THAT hurt so much.
GenoG - sorry about your situation. The only thing that helped my rash was using GoldBond Triple Threat Anti Itch Medicated lotion SEVERAL times a day. Keeping my skin thoroughly covered and moisturized at all times was the only thing that helped at all. But I just had the riba-rash bad, not the same thing.
Still, I thought it might help you too. I hope so, I really do.
Sorry you are dealing with this, I know it is difficult to deal with any skin ailment. When you say you have "hep c in the end stage" do you mean you are suffering from ESLD? Are you on treatment now and under the care of a doctor?
Have you spoken to your doctor? He can prescribe you medications to help with the itching. The topical treatments suggested here might help although I would not pour hydrogen peroxide on yourself, it can severely dry out your skin and dryness is one of the problems that leads to itching.
I had the rash very bad for a couple of months and nothing worked. I did not have 'dry skin'. I had red raised bumps on my arms that looked like infected scars or the pox. I tried several types of lotions and it did 'moisterize' my skin sure enough, but it did nothing for the rash or the itching. It did give me a glossy sheen on my arms that although quite sexy, was totally useless. Once the sores became open sores from the scratching, I became concerned about infection so I started using hydrogen peroxide on my arms after I showered since the risk of infection was more of a concern to me than the itching. A month later, my arms had almost completely healed and the infected rash was gone. I did not use it on my legs since it wasn't as bad there, and I still have the rash there, albeit not as bad, so I wouldn't be quite so quick to poo-poo this with your blanket dismissive statement.
THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP. I HAVE TRIED MOST. I WILL TRY THE REST.
