TSH test

Tsh went from 3.5, pre treatment in September to 4.37 six weeks into tx. Doctor does not seem to be concerned but I am. I have gained weight and I am always wrapped in a coat but figured this was due to cold weather coming. Do you think I should go see yet another doctor or is this number not high?  I know that Naturopaths seem to read these on the low side but the range is all over the board on the net.

Go to a knowledgable endocronologist, I believe that the doctors have now moved the upper limit down to 3.  I did SOC for 72 weeks and at week 24 I was extremely hyper (0.0) but by week 30 when I went for the nuclear imaging test I was hypo at 6.2  I take synthroid .88 every day and it keeps it at about 2.0.

Good luck.

As Aaron mentioned, several on SOC had thyroid issues because of the meds.  I recall Synthroid used to keep the levels in check and is taken from then on.  Hopefully, some who went through this can cue in to relay their experience.   I'd continue to research and get a 2nd opinion if you feel necessary.  Good luck Mo.

Do you have an actual copy of your lab work, a print out? If you do, that print out should state the reference range for your lab, the low and high normals.

My lab's reference range for TSH is from 0.34 to 5.60. The normals vary from lab to lab.

Interferon can aggravate auto immune issues that are pre existing, thyroid , diabetes etc. ..

I don't know if Tela or Boce compounds the issue .

Search the site here and you will find examples from the SOC Tx group of folks who treated before PI Tx was released in May ...
The search engine here is a good tool ....

The lab I use has a Tsh reference range of 0.47 - 4.64,  if that is any help ...

If you are not comfortable with your doc's position .. why not get a second opinion from a endocrinologist who is familiar with HCV Tx ?

You could also check your Thyroid FT4 level and see where it is ...

Cheers

mine went up and the gi nurse told me to see my primary care doc for the thyroid, she put me on .25 mgs of thyroid medication, she does not think that the triple drugs caused the problem though in the drug facts thyroid problems have occured with triple treatment, she said that alot of people have the thyroid prob before but didn't present with it and that the drugs just aggravated what was already going on. This is what I was told still not sure on that and really ticked that now I have another pill to take even if it is tiny ugh.... I would see another doc if that would make you feel better.. good luck
