Terrible throbbing headaches !

I started taking Rebatol with food  the last two weeks and I've been getting
terrible throbbing headaches every evening at about the same time.

I never took rebatol with food and never experienced the headaches before.

It hurts in the lower back part of my head, and if I lay down it gets better but
when I get up it starts again, I've been taking 2 Tylenols and after an hour or so two more but it doesn't seem to help.

Is the increased amount of meds absorbed by my body causing that?

Thanks

Wow that sounds horrible!  I am so sorry that it is happening to you.

I've always taken my Rebetol with food / a smoothie at the least and never had any problems at all.  Headaches are one of the sides though....I am sure someone will come on with an answer I just wanted to say sorry for the pain - nobody needs THAT while on tx!

Sorry for your troubles.

It's likeley that you are now absorbing more riba - and that could sure be the explanation. When was your last CBC? How's your hgb? Anemia can cause headaches. So can sinus troubles. And plenty of other junk too, no doubt.

A cool cloth of the forehead or back of the neck can help.

Hot like Brad Pitt, huh?

Have a sore area along the back of my gums at the base of my rear molars. Tiny bleeding at the toothline. Some obvious redness. Going to the dentist today - but does this sound like the riba mouth? Could also be infection from last week's low WBC's, I s'pose....

many have had headaches as a side, and I don't think is the riba with food theory. I and Chev had what we termed a "one sided headache" and mine lasted for two weeks, left and never came back. No one knows what it was. I did end up getting a brain scan(yes, I do have a brain and a heart), because I thought it was an aneurysm or stroke. Brain was "normal".  I was Rx some very good med that helped, but I don't remember the name. I think it is related to the hgb dropping, even if only a tad drop. Once the body adjusted, it went. Or maybe it was the interferon crossing the brain barrier to get the hcv, who knows? get good effective meds, tylenol might not cut it.

Hi, Yes lots of headaches. Mine seem to come and go in spurts. I will go a few weeks without, then boom I will have them several days in a row. Normally following peg injection. Yes, make sure you have all the meds on hand to treat the sides.

I have noticed when I get a headache now the tips of my fingertips go numb....that was disconcerting but it went away when the headache did so I figured it out.

Amazing what these poisons can do to save our lives?

When you eat something, a certain amount of blood goes to your stomach to assist digestion. It has to come from somewhere. For example, try playing a game of chess while eating a big meal. You'll either get a headache (probably) or a stomach ache, depending on where the blood gets directed.

So, it's possible what's happening is that less blood is being directed to your head with your new regimen and therefore whether or not you're absorbing more riba, it may be making you more sensitive to the riba. This is just my own personal theory, but I find that when "A" follows "B", the cause and effect is worth investigating.

In any event, most of us were advised to take riba with food, so I think you should continue with food, and hopefully your system will adjustt. But to be safe, as others suggested, talk to your doctor. It could be something entirely different.

Hope you feel better soon.

I am sorry, I don't know where the headaches come from.  I seems to be getting more of them lately too -- altho they are light , not like you have, they are a nuisance.

But what I want to know while you are here is if you have tried to contact the labs instead of the doctor to find out your pre treatment viral load?

just wanted to jump in and say my headaches only began when i started to become anemic...my doctor said that was the cause of mine.  when they are especially bad i take 2 tylenol and have a big cup of tea (caffeine) and surprisingly, it works for several hours.

I was informed by my doctor that the headaches come from the Interferon & was given pain medication for it and in addition told to take tylenol & alternate ibuprophen.  If you read the instructions with the Rebetol, you should always take after a full meal and drink plenty of water throughout the day.  Speak with your doctor about your problems, he will help you thru them.

Hi Everyone,
I hope you will get this post, because all available ones are filled. I just wanted to check in because it's been so long. I manage a quick scan about once a week, but I've been REALLY busy. Moved a month ago and am still settling in. Every time I think I'm done, my ex-husband brings more boxes of **** that were stored at his place. After work I am doing the Mom thing, making dinner, etc.. Another thing is that my vision has REALLY deteriorated in the past few weeks. I can't read much at all--feel like I'm going blind here. Will that get better? I miss everybody and want you all to know I think of you. I wish I could be here to support others and hope that I soon will have the time again. BTW, I am on week 27, still clear at week 24 (2b). I've been feeling very well in general and it seems like my hair loss is slowing down. Anyone else find that?

SORRY ABOUT YOUR HEADACHES. I HAVE HAD THEM MOSTLY ON FOR 9 WEEKS NOW BUT NOT SEVERE.
REGARDING THE FOOD. ON READING THE INSTRUCTIONS ON MY PEG IT STATED THAT A FULL 70% MORE REBA IS INJESTED IF TAKEN WITH FOOD. THIS IS A FACT I WISH MY DOC WOULD HAVE LET ME IN ON SO I DID NOT WASTE  WEEKS TAKING MEDS THAT WHERE NOT WORKING.

HANG IN THERE. YOU ARE NOT ALONE IN YOUR BATTLE.

I ALSO READ THAT THERE IS A 80-80-80 RULE DOCS USE TO GAUGE PROBABLE SVR. THAT IS IF I TAKE 80% OF MY PEG AND 80% OF MY REBA 80% OF THE TIME MY ODDS GO WAY UP. THAT WOULD INDICATE THAT SOME OF US TRY TO HEDGE AND THE RESULTS ARE BAD.

SOON IT WILL BE OVER.

my vision really worried me after months on tx.  I had my eyes checked by the MD and nothing was wrong with them. I think is a neuro thing. After tx, I had my eyes checked for my yearly glasses and the Rx was the same as pre tx.  So, it is very possible that things will return to normal, but have the ophthalmologist check your eyes to be sure.
I am glad you are doing well! Are you still upstate? Giddy up and whoaisme posted a months ago and are doing well.
see ya at the next march!

Hey Goof,
I've had similar problems a friend put me on to Colgate Peroxyl. It's awesome, eases soreness & treats gum infections:
The product info is here:
http://www.colgate.com.au/app/Colgate/AU/OralCare/ProductRecommender/Rinse/PDPs.cvsp?product=ColgatePeroxyl

Because I am weird I use it before brushing, foams in the mouth & feels like it just lifts everything to the surface & then you brush ! Anyway it cost about $10 in Australia, probably cheaper in the States. Hope it works for you...

Hi Rearfang, Cin, Cuteus, DonA, Giddyup, Whoaisme...
Just dropped in.  Life is going on, and I'm very busy at work, etc.  Things looked lovely, but we lost most of the foliage in yesterday's windstorms.
Have your doc check on all vision changes.  Cotton wool spots are a well-known side effect of tx; dry eyes are fairly common. There can be much more serious changes, though, including damage to your macula (macular separation); these can be side effects, and call for prompt response.  The good news is that most vision changes will go back to the pre-tx status.
Best wishes to my friends, from M.N.

I had the same type of headaches early on. They felt like they were at the base of my skull. I tried everything. My doctor prescribed pain pills but they didnt help. I noticed several things about them. 1)The severity seemed to be linked to how much I tried to do the morning after the shot. If I was very physically active that day the headache would be terrible that night. 2) I had slowed down on fluid intake. The things that worked for me were 1)force myself to take it easy the day after the shot, 2)drink gatorade, and 3)to help get to sleep I would roll up the heating pad, turn it on low and sleep with it on the back of my head(keep in mind heating pads usually say dont go to sleep with them on). I hope you find something that works for you. I am now on shot 43 of 48 and counting down.

Thanks for the tips. I'll definitely check those products out. As of today the Dentist has me rinsing 3x daily with an antibiotic rinse - then 1x daily in a few days.

Prior to being thrust into treatment, I had lower ortho braces applied and they're stiill in place (if I end up just getting my pearly whites ready for the pearly gates - at least I'll be taking the trip with a nice smile)! So between the meds, the low WBC, and the braces, Dr BriteSmile thinks the rinse will help to get the oral science experiment back on track.

It is 11% alcohol, but sheesh - what are ya gonna do?
