Have you had your thyroid tested lately? Most of the symptoms you mention can easily be what I've experience with hypo symptoms? I know even with a total TT, there is residual Thyroid tissue in your throat and up under your tongue which can swell when hormone levels are low (mine did); digestion is sluggish (which you don't need with hepC) and produces nausea, and leg cramps are another symptom along with numbness and ears ringing....Is your Dr experienced with Thyroid (and I hope is sending you to a hepatologist or Gastro and getting all the releveant tests (including B12 and Vit D, Ferritin etc).. certainly before any treatments start a good range of tests are taken.
Thank you Kristina538... I have a call into my doctor again with no return call. I told them I am not feeling well at all. I am waking with my arms numb, feet and leg pain out the roof and ears ringing and also the uncomfortable feeling under my right rib area. Also started having some nausea. I don't want to just seem overboard with it but I mean couldn't the doctor at least give me a call. I also noticed I sorta look like my face is even swollen...sorta moon face which is not like me at all. Just so frustrated. Thanks again.
nice one it made me laugh! Jules
Agreed; I would stay up late reading this forum. My hubby would question whether it was wise and my reply was 'yes, once I break the fear barrier, I start really learning'. Knowledge is indeed power, and this forum is a goldmine of knowledge.
So, I didn't put my emotions in the trunk, or let them drive. I watched them 'with love' until they calmed down. Thanks for the quote GrammyA - I'm going to borrow that one!!!
@Hessycat - the ALT shows the level of current inflammation, not the status of the liver, so can vary. I found Dr Sandra Cabot's 'healthy liver & bowel book' a good place to start with helping myself until I was more updated, via my doctors and my own research. But, yes, if you have symptoms go back to your Dr. Being hypo certainly won't help (and when I was most hypo, I would go to my room and play 'Angry Birds' to keep my anxiety at bay, so appreciate your double-dose of anxiety). I hope you find out more soon, and can stategise a plan. There have been miracles a-plenty on this site, and love, and sharing; Hang in there.
This group has been so helpful to me. Sure, it's scary stuff but I don't think the docs want to alarm you so they just keep it low key. It's up to you to do your homework through research and through support networks.
I have been once again reading On Death and Dying (I know, uplifting, right?) and the thing that strikes me most is how little the patients were told in 1969. About anything. And so it strikes me that it's kinda like closing your eyes in a haunted house. What you see is far less frightening than what you imagine with your eyes closed. It's much better now to have access to all this good and quickly changing information. The people on this forum have actually Lived this reality and they can give you insight that those who have not gone through it can
I just found out that I am Hep c positive. That is all I know. I know I am not well. I am having legs swelling , pain and ascites that comes and goes. Yes, I am reading everything....the more I read the more I am scared. I have had some wonderful posts of encouragement from people on here but my anxiety it terrible. I am thinking the worst although my enzymes are elevated but not real high. 1-38 ..mine is 78. I am just not dealing well since I don't know anything yet. Just that I now have a positive test.
