Weell just an update, my hep C doc says I cannot use Trazadone with Boceprevir. There were a few reasons why, but mostly, the drug interaction with that combo is not as effective as far as the Boceprevir (Victrelis) goes. Thank you all for your great information. I read those sites, and they make sense!
Insomnia has been a problem for me for quite a long time. Before I started treatment, I was taking 7.5mg of Immovane and 25mg of Serequel at bedtime. I have been on Pegetron for 8 weeks now,and am still taking the same amount of Immovane, and have increased the Serequel to 75mg at bedtime. I have had a few restless nights since starting tx..but for the most part,am,thankfully, sleeping pretty well. Good luck to you:)
I was taking trazodone before I started triple tx 12 weeks ago.
I still take it, but at 1/2 my regular dose.
I am very happy with the trazodone and would be in trouble without it.
I take 50mg and 20 minutes later, I'm ready.

Interactions between your selected drugs
trazodone ↔ boceprevir
Applies to: Desyrel (trazodone), Victrelis (boceprevir)
MONITOR: According to the product information for the hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS3/4A protease inhibitors, boceprevir and telaprevir, plasma concentrations of the antidepressants desipramine and trazodone may be increased when coadministered with these agents. The mechanism may involve inhibition of CYP450 3A4 metabolism. No pharmacokinetic data are currently available; however, adverse effects such as nausea, dizziness, hypotension, and syncope may be increased.
MANAGEMENT: Caution is advised if desipramine or trazodone is used in combination with HCV NS3/4A protease inhibitors. A lower dosage of the antidepressant should be considered.
No other interactions were found between your selected drugs.
Note: this does not necessarily mean no interactions exist. ALWAYS consult with your doctor or pharmacist.

I have used Benadryl 25 mg. to help with sleep. I take it so I don't itch at night but it also helps with sleep.

I think the main noticeable side effect with this drug is the drowsiness it causes. I think it hits you like a ton of bricks shortly after you take it (each time you take it). I am not 100% positive, but many years ago (1983) I was on Sinaquan for depression. It knocked me out and every morning it was really difficult to get my butt out of bed. Once I was up it was okay, but getting up was difficult because I still felt knocked out. After a few months I asked for a swwitch to a medication that did not leave me with such a morning hangover. If I recall correctly, the replacement drug was Trazodone. It also knocked me out and had some next morning hangover effect, but maybe not quite as much as with the other drug.
