Anybody else experience calf pain?

I'm post tx four months. Really I was so relieved to finally finish I ran as fast and far as I could from the whole ordeal.  I'm pretty active and mentally I'm bouncing back. There's a lingering pain like thing though in my fingers, feet and the back of both calfs.  Sort of like the ligaments are too tight.  Before tx I hiked up a rugged new england sea coast five miles, sometimes 10, every day even in winter.  Recently I've started to try it again but only a couple miles a day thinking it may help the pain but it hasn't.  I'm not wimpy and have a high pain tolerance compared to many but this constant tightening is beginning to really wear on me.  Anybody have any ideas?

Im still on tx wk 23/24  I have been hiking or exercising for a hiking trip for yrs and it seems no matter what I do I allways have calf pain. Its as if thats where most of my energy shows up, someone even said that is the area where most of my frustration comes out.
The calfs are the only place I have that rash from tx also.
Its probably just how your getting back into shape, favoring movment and now focused into that area.

Hey Lonestar,,,,Congratulations on finishing up!  Many people hear complain of post joint,,muscle pains so seems normal to me and honestly it took a good year for me to let go alot of lingering sides.  If it persists,,,you may need to see a rheumatologist but I would give a little more time.  While I was on tx,,,,I would wake up with some terrible pains in my calfs and sometimes it would be a charly horse!  Those all went away finally though!  Good Luck to you!

OMG - that visual of you running at the end of treatment and at the "finish line" is wonderful!  Glad you're bouncing back. You were in great shape before treatment, and it sounds like you are in great shape now, too.

The only thing I can think of right now (other than just recovering from the treatment and bouncing back, which is probably what this is) would be something vascular / cardiac. Ever had a stress test?  I don't know how old you are or what your family history is, but if the calf pain keeps up, you might want to get things checked out just to make sure this is JUST muscle fatigue & weakness and not related to any vascular / cardiac disease.   Best of luck.

Way to go on finishing!!

Deep calf pain and regular calf cramps have been very common for me since my last therapy, and now, three years after SVR.  It feels like there is always a deep 'knot' in the back/center of each calf, and it is easily aggravated into a full cramp.

I see no real change in this problem.

Sounds like I'm gonna live then.  I s'pose compared to some of the posts I read here I ought to consider myself lucky.  But I'm not kidding, it freakin hurts.  It makes me not feel so wimpy knowing others have experienced it.  Thank you all.

Chenme, interesting though...  I treated for a year and a half.  Three days before I finished my mum had a heart attack.  A month later two brothers.  My father died at 38 from a heart attack.  I do take pretty good care of myself and have never had any sym tons I'm aware of. I'm 54. Good cholesterol, low blood pressure, bla, bla, bla but still.... Think if it lingers long, I'll check it out.  Double Dose has lived with this pain for a while so maybe I'll just have to live with it too.

Rev, bet the reason you never experienced it is because you were born with a newspaper, an encyclopedia, and a copy of Anarchy Now all rolled up in your little hands and have been so busy decoding and analyzing conspiracy theories you've been too busy to hike. ; ]  Me too, Just that I'm a Mighty Mouse and I do it while I'm running.  ; ]  Love reading your posts.  Sometimes... ; ]

I can't say i have the same calve pains you do, but at times mine ache alot. Other times it hits me with numbness and I have to grab something. Mostly I think my muscles are tightened all the time from the meds and that causes pain. Also flu like symptoms. The worst I had was the bone pain, now that hit me like it was way deep in the bones. It was awful. Hopefully that isn't what you have. Are you on Neupogen?

You take on Rev was pretty funny. I have to agree :)

I have the leg, calf, hand pain and numbness also after finishing 2 rds. of therapy & maintainence. I still carry the disease. With your family's history I think I would definitely see a Cardiologist. That's just my take. It's probably all interferon related, but it doesn't hurt to explore other things. I am going to Shands for my Neuropathy, but I know it is a direct result of the medication.
