Tx meds role after reaching UND?

One of those questions that come up on a sleepless night......

I did shot 28 last Friday and have been UND since week12. As I was poking myself yet again, I was wondering...what do these drugs do once you are UND....just float around on the lookout for that stray virus to pop up? Without any virii to attack, is this when the collateral damage occurs.? I seem to be developing some issues that may be auto immune related (?) psoriasis and joint pain that I never had before.

Pam

For help with the 'joint pain' use a roach clip to avoid burned fingertips.

Thanks for the explanation..it made things much clearer and more incentive to stay the course for another 10 months.

The viral load test merely indicates what may be detected in the blood.
The virus uses liver cells in order to replicate and infected liver cells are not highlighted by the PCR test.
Additionally small quantities of mutated viral variants are likely to form during the early weeks of treatment and are capable of sitting it out until treatment ends and then replicating..
The drugs don't attack virus they stimulate your own immune system to kill the infected cells in your body.
Psoriasis is a fairly common side effect of interferon and it resolves after treatment ceases.
Virus doesn't 'pop up' -the liver cells are used as factories for replication.Virons are literally embraced by the liver cell which produces several replicas at which point both the liver cell and the original viron die-the replicas are released into the blood stream to start the process anew.
