thanks.
Hi buddy. You have a whole herd of symptoms. I would imagine there are many bugs one could catch in the Phillipines. Have you been tested for malaria and dengue? fwiw, dengue and hep c are close relatives (both RNA flaviviruses) and are more closely related to each other than hep c and hep b. Do you have access to an internist who specilizes in infectious diseases? Not sure what else to suggest. Don't delay. Many of your symptoms are not common in hepatitis c.

have your doc test for all hepatitis. i do not think you have hepatitis from what you describe. this is a hepatitis forum and i think you may need a different forum to get the help that you need. best of luck
Having spent a lot of time in S.E.Asia I can say it doesn't sound like dengue fever or malaria. Both of these mosquitoe born diseases produce flu like symptoms, fevers, chills, aches. Doctors in those areas are very familiar with them. I think the doctor in the Phillipines would know if he had either of those two.
He should get tested for Hepatitis, A,B as well as C.
An increase in eosinophils is most commonly an indication of a parasite infection (worms) but can also increase due to asthma and perhaps viral infection - although you would expect your neutrophils and leukocytes to be elevated in the case of a viral infection.
As to the decrease in WBC - You do not say what the numbers are so it is a little hard to determine the severity of leukopenia, but there are many causes and most are not too dire :)
Medications can cause low white blood count, so can the flu or a a cold and a whole host of other conditions.
Obviously I am only a patient along with most others here and I have no real idea what could be the cause of your blood test changes.
Trust in your doctors and ask them to give you a complete physical check up and listen to their advice.
I agree with the above poster, have you been thoroughly screened for parasites? My parents travel extensively in Asia and all over and it is not difficult to pick up parasites, I'd get tested for them. They can be hard to pin down at first.
I assume you're seeing a gastro who is running all the usual tests. Often, they get locked into an original diagnosis -- right or wrong -- so sometimes it's reasonable to see a new one just for a fresh prespective although it does seem like your current one is still running tests. Outside of that, you might try stopping smoking. Smoking is associated with peptic ulcers and a whole host of gastric problems including GERD/reflux, symptomatic or not. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi guys,
Dr done HEP test & came back positive to HEP A. He says that virus is "dead" & he can't tell me age of it, so may be this is because of my symptoms or not.
Also, he done an allergy test & I ended up having an extremely high allergy levels! he sent allergy test to lab to see if they could come up with what exactly I'm allergic to.
Any idea anyone what exactly is going on??
cheers,
