Dear Bill,

Greeting... Thanks indeed for your reply and yes.. Times fly... March 21. My son going to be a year. He is adorable.  I thank you very much you all for the help when we were panic.

I would like to share this info about medicine that my wife taking.  Sadly, we can't effort to go Standard Treatment. In Burma, it's quite difficult to get treatment. My wife is christian, one day, at church, she prayed and discussed with pastor who is from Korea. They came to Myanmar as mission. Then they asked us willing to take some medicine and it has been proven to many people in korea. (he mentioned that many people and not all). Since we cannot effort, we only have to pay certain pay certain potion and church contribute certain potion.

According to the plant flat, it says :  Plant Stem Cell - Ddobyul. Came from Unhwa Biotech Corp's. Hope you can google. I don't want to mention the site other people might misunderstand us. But upon request I will tell detail. At church we met with one lady Genotype 1a, who relapsed and now using this and so far her result show Negative. It has been about 8 months. So we are quite eager.

We are also quite eager to get treatment while her vial load is low. Please do let us know if there is any trial near Bangkok, even Singapore expenses.

Thank you Bill...

Hi Aung—

I remember you well. And now your child is 11 months old? Amazing; time goes quickly :o).

I interpret the viral load change:

4.92 x 10^6 IU/mL = 4,920,000
7.001 x 10^4 IU/mL = 70,010 IU/mL

This represents a net log reduction of -1.84

This is interesting to me; it is a significant reduction in viral load. I agree with Trinity that your efforts will probably not result in the elimination of the virus; there is no *scientific* support for alternative medicine like this. It is interesting though; how expensive is the plant stem cell?

Does this help your wife in the interim? I don’t know the answer to that. This is a considerable reduction in viral load; and although viral load changes by itself, it does not typically do it to such an extent.

Is it affordable?

Can you have a Burmese doctor evaluate her situation?

I understand that Burma has limited medical facilities; my heart goes out to both of you. Good luck, and keep trying to help your wife—

Bill

Can anyone tell Conquest how this breaks down in terms of viral load?

I really don't know how to convert that into IU/ML.  I should learn but irregardless, the viral load is not important at this point.  Until she treats, there will always be a viral load and that fluctuates regularly whether you are taking supplements or not.  It's the liver enzymes you need to be concerned with.

Trust me on this Aung, I may not know conversions but I do know about this disease.

Hi Trinity,

Thanks for the reply...

Could you double check the result?  10^6 to 10^4.. Doubt not increasing.... Thanks..

Yes, I remember you.  It appears her viral load has increased using the Plant Stem Cell but I'm not sure about the conversion and that may not be the case at all.  I hope someone who knows will chime in regarding those numbers.

I can't tell you whether you should continue using the Plant Stem Cell or not.  What I can tell you is viral load isn't important unless your wife is treating.  LFT's (liver enzymes) are the most telling and that is the test she should have at 6 month intervals to see how much inflammation is occurring in the liver.

Also, I'm sure you know there is no cure for hepatitis c expect the standard of care (interferon and ribavirin)  Many have touted a cure over the years but it's just isn't so.

I wish you and your family the very best Aung,
Trinity

Hi Trinity4,

Sorry for my confusing second questions:
Hope you remember me. We are from Myahmmar (Burma). Here is whole history about her blood test result: Please ignore above figure .. I know this Forum rule that we all stick on standard treatment and we just would like to know if we should continue before we got medicine (standard treatment) when we can reach.

According to suggestion from my wife's Teacher from Church, she is a Korean, my wife is taking Plant Stem Cell. Before she take:

October - 2009  4.92 x 10^6 IU/ml and
After taking when she checked on Feb 2010 ( two days ago)
                       7.001 x 10^4 IU/ml

Since we still cann't effort standard interferon, need advice if we should go ahead with this medicine. We can give you website and detail, but worried other people from this forum might misunderstand us. I used to use this forum with the name Aung.

Thanking you all in advance.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), children should wait to be tested for HCV until they are at least 18 months of age, as antibodies from the mother remain in the infant's circulation until that time. Maternal antibodies may or may not be indicative of HCV infection. If testing is desired before 18 months of age, tests to detect genetic material associated with hepatitis C known as HCV RNA should be performed, the CDC recommends. HCV RNA testing should then be repeated at a follow-up visit with the child's physician, the agency states.

I don't understand your second questions.  Are those random PCR's or is that her viral load during treatment?
