Please explain what is autoimmune Hepatitis? Does having an auto-immune disease such as Sjogren's Syndrome and Hep. C antibodies, expose me to having an autoimmune Hep C?

they did not post my comment! what is wrong with:
"If they wanted a funny line they could have had the woman state: I have crabs, since there are no chronically infected people that will complain and no one has needed a crotch transplant!
I would not be surprised if the writers confused hepatitis with herpes since we get that all the time in our hepatitis forum. Ignorance can hurt you!"

msybe the word crotch was too much?

I heard about the Bewitched movie & the crude joke about Hep C. But I think I might have missed something about Tom Cruise. Did he some make remarks on Hep C too? I had planned on seeing that movie ( or renting ) I am not sure now. What exactly did he do?

Thanks, Sue

Seems Tom Cruise has Ruffled a few feathers too & here is what they have to say about boycotting HIS Movie.

**************************************************************

In what is possibly the most pointless gesture ever,
folks angry about Tom Cruise's recent public outbursts have created an online
petition to boycott Steven Spielberg's adaptation of War of the Worlds. I'm
going to take it as a gag, and hope that it is, because otherwise someone will
have to explain to the people who spearheaded this "boycott" that you can simply
avoid seeing the movie and leave it at that. Also, aren't online petitions, like
worrying about Tom Cruise, a complete waste of time and energy?

Hi Boston, Tom Cruise made some very ignorant remarks about post partum depression and claimed that there is no such thing as a chemical inbalance and psychiatry is a farce. While Bon Vivant might not understand because she is not involved I would think she would feel some compassion by virtue of the fact that she felt slighted by the Bewitched comments regarding HCV. I guess it is just human nature to be upset when it impacts you and not when it is someone else. Apparently Mr. Cruise said some thoughtless things about Brooke Shields and her horrific bout of depression after her baby was born.

Thanks LuLu. I did hear something about him condemming AD's on a morning show, but was not sure if he had made some remarks about Hep C, as well.

hello there! I am not sure if you noticed the disclaimer by MEd help about the fact that this is not a monitored board and is a patient to patient forum, so I will believe that you did not and direct you to the gastro section where there is a physician or the rheumatologist section. Of course, there might be a small fee.
this board has about 6 to 8 questions allowance and because of that limitation it is advisable that questions by a member be tagged to an existing thread this person started. that would allow for new questions by other members to be shared.

after all this intro; I am wondering what antigens for hep c might be, I have heard it about hep b but not c. Antibodies is your body's reaction to an invader and does not mean the hep c is active. You might always carry the antibodies as an indication of prior exposure and possible spontaneous resolution(happens in about 20% of all hep c cases). Have you had a RNA PCR test? that would determine if your hep c is still active or not. autoimmune disorders can happen as a result of chronic hep c infection, not because of the antibodies as far as I know.

please note there are no doctors on this forum, just patient-to-patient exchange.

a good site to check for AIH is:
http://autoimmunehepatitis.co.uk/

an excellent site for hep C info is:
http://janis7hepc.com/index.htm

I wish you all the best, at the beginning everything seems scary and confused, but the net is a wonderful resource: this forum and others are really a great help. keep coming here, and welcome.
