Weights on Weight Based Riba

Can anyone tell me the weight for weight based Riba? Ive lost like 30 pounds and you know me.. Rambling Rose.. I panic at doing to many meds.

I am down to 250 pounds and started at 280.. (Im 5'11 so I carry it well)  Im on 1400 mg a day now and this was something I just thought of when I was reading the board.

Dontcha just love that interferon/riba diet plan?  Works real well.  I started at 203 and am now at 176 after 24-weeks.  At 5' 9" I'd like to drop 10 or 15 more pounds.  I started treatment with 1200 daily and am now on half dose (600) due to problems with hemoglobin.

I don't know the calculations but you would have to drop to 130 lbs to reduce to 800 mg.

I weight 119 (and have all through treatment) and I've been on 800 Riba (14.8 mg/kg).  If you compare weight to weight, that would be like you being on 1600+ Riba.  I don't think you're on "too" much.

You don't mention what riba dose you are on but  by Port's post I take it you are on 1400mgs per day?

The weight based formula for Riba is 12-15mg/kg of body weight.  Therefore take your body weight in lbs, divide it by 2.2, then multiple that number by 12mg (lowest minimum weight dose). That will tell you your correct dose.

If we follow Ports calculation then it would seem you were a little underdosed to start but now that you have lost some weight you are right where you should be!

So, if you were worrying about taking too much, don't.  More is better with Riba if your blood counts can handle it.  If your hemoglobin starts getting lower than 10 they may want to reduce you or put you on procrit.

If I work it out using the formula I gave above  it looks like this:

Your body weight in lbs (280), divided by 2.2 (127.3kgs), multipled by 12mg equals approx 1500 riba per day.

Now you are 250lbs divided by 2.2 equals 113.4kgs multiplied by 12mgs equals just under 1400mgs riba per day which means you are bang on the money!

Either way you look at it, you were on a lowish dose to start but are on the right dose now, and IMHO you would be best served to stick to that dose as long as possible, bearing in mind you are on the LOWER end of the weight dosed protocol.

I'm 6', weighed in at 76kgs (165lbs) at the start and was on 1200 per day which works out to 15mgs/kg.  I maintained the 1200 for the first 44 weeks and then my weight dropped to 72kgs and my hb dropped with it and I was reduced to 1000mgs per day.  That works out
at approx 13.9mg/kg, still in range.

Btw, I was also geno 3 and treated for 48 weeks, my first 12 week eot PCR is due next week.

Hats off to Port and Goofy who were hitting it hard with 16 and 17, don't think I would have made that!

If any one thinks my math is wrong PLEASE correct me, but I definately do not think you are doing too many meds!!

Keep it up, Rain, you're doing great!!!

I was geno 3, stage 4. SVRed with 26 weeks. Started at 16.5 mg/kg, ended at 17.3 - with a brief drop down to 14 or so due to riba reduction for low hgb.

Hi Rain,

Here's how it looked starting out:

1400 mg divided by 127 kg (280 lbs) = 11 mg per kilo

And here'd how it looks now:

1400 mg divided by 113.4 kg (250 lbs) = 12.3 mg per kilo

You're a geno 3, stage zero, right?

I was on 17 mg per kilo for my 48 weeks.
