Biopsy Done. Painless and Quick

Had my Bx done at St Lukes in the Houston Medical center today. Was a piece of cake.
It was ultra sound guided and the worst part was the ultra sound gell that is applied is cold.
The calming drugs that were administered were quite pleasant as was the reasurring company of the nurses and radiolgy folks of St Lukes.

I told the Dr performing the procedure that I had seen it done on Youtube. He thought that was awsome and would be on Youtube tonight checking it out. However If you are considering Bx and are a bit sqeamish about it. DO NOT go on Youtube and view one. It's done from the point of view of the Dr and looks scary. You will not see it from this point of view. I recommend viewing it after your Bx.

Anyway the worst part of the day was the blood draw I had to do in the morning. Mr Hepatologist ordered about 10 vials worth of blood drawn. I have now idea what it was all for yet. He had just done about 6 vials worth 2 weeks earlier that I thought was all or at least most of the important stuff he needed to know.

After drawing the blood the nurse told me to go back up stairs to the waiting room. However I began to feel really quezy wile waiting for the elevator. I did not want to pass out in an elevator full of stangers so I went back and laid down in the blood draw room for a couple of minutes. I felt fine after that.

I feel fine right now except when I take a really deep breath I get a tough of soreness.

So if anyone is sitting on the fence because they are afraid of Bx. Don't be. It will be over quickly and you'll be glad you got it over with.

Now on to the hard part. Waiting for results

They said the results should take a week or so. I looked at the needles also. I told myself i was not going to, but some morbid facination made me look. I was pretty buzzed on the calming drugs by then so it did not really faze me.

There is something about Dimerol that completly shuts down my ability to stop anything that pops into my mind from coming out my mouth, not matter how inapropiate it may be. Kind of embassing but I always get good laughs from the Dr's and support folks. And since I can never remember what I said, the embarisment fades quickly.

I usually don't have a problem with blood draws. I think my nerves just got to me.

Anyway hope your Sx are better. I read that you had some skin issues. Better luck going forward.

P.S.  Get use to having blood taken, for they take a lot of it during tx.  That is if you decide to do so.

How long did they say for results?  You should know by next Friday.  I would call rather than wait for it to come in snail mail.  Keep us posted.

I've had two biopsies and both of them were uneventful.  I was considering going on You Tube to watch the biopsy procedure but quickly decided I didn't want see what they did.  My first one I made the mistake of looking at the needle and said "Your going to stick that in the nurse, aren't you ?"  Lol !  I didn't look the second time.
