Symptoms sound like hepatitis?

Im posting on here today because of these on going symptoms that have persisted for about 3 weeks now.. My story is I had unprotected vaginal sex with someone who I think is very sexually active. It was rough sex and a little blood was involved..

My concerns: About 3 weeks post encounter I started to get abdominal pains not in any specific area, but if I had to pinpoint it, I would say upper right, but also upper left and lower abdominal.. I feel like I do have to urinate more often, no brown urine though. I did get tested exactly 1 month post encounter with all negative hepatitis results. That was 2 weeks ago, and am still having the abdominal discomfort.

Question: Would my negative antibody test at one month give me any sort of conclusion? When should I retest if not? Are my symptoms relative to hep c infection?

Thanks for your time!

So got an appointment to get the pcr done tomorrow.

I was looking over my antibody test results and it says under Hepatitis c antibody signal to cut-off    0.03     <1.00

I also made the girl I slept with get one and hers said 0.04   <1.00

Is this a positive reading? thanks

HCV is NOT an std, sex is an extremely inefficent way of transmitting HCV. Yes it can happen, but is so rare. The conditions have to be just right. there has to be blood from both parties, meaning the person you had sex with would have to be bleeding into your cut bleeding penis. If you take such good care of your health, why are you having unprotected sex. And it seems quite frequently since you have posted about different sexual scenerios and different infections.

That RNA PCR test is just as accurate as the RNA by PCR for HIV.It was designed for early detection but it's going to cost you.

Well thanks for the answers, not trying to be a nuisance. I am just someone who takes very good care of their health and with me comming down with those weird symptoms seems too much of a coincidence given the time frame.

And how is hcv not an std, it CAN be transmitted during sex through blood to blood just like hiv can..

Will go get tested via pcr, will keep you guys up to date.. thanks

"I had unprotected vaginal sex"
"I do admit that I am a little OCD about stds"

Those two statement are rather contradictory, don't you think?

Any doctor can order a PCR.  As info, your gallbladder is located in the upper right side of the diaphragm.  Trapped gas also presents on the right side and a mild case of pancreatitis would present in the same manner.
Those are just a few things that cause upper right quadrant pain.

Listen real close now.....see a gastro if the discomfort persists or get a PCR.  Either way, someone else will have to take center stage with you because I'm outta here!

Hep C is a slow-moving disease.  It can take years for someone to develop Hep C symptoms.  I have had it for probably 41 years, since a blood transfusion in 1971, and I have NO symptoms (except slightly elevated AST,ALT)  and very little liver damage.  The chance that you would be experiencing Hep C symptoms after three weeks is, in my opinion, negligible.  And, as others have said, Hep C is not a std.   You might want to educate yourself about the disease and THEN ask questions.

Can any doctor order that test or do I have to go to one of those specific std testing places? Also would my liver function test be elevated at all at one month if I was infact having symptoms of hcv, my alt ast were both in normal range. Just kind of feel some weird burning on right side under rib cage and when I sloutch or bend over just seems really full in that area. Thanks

Could be classic signs of anything.  Just because you had unprotected sex and your symptoms appeared after that doesn't mean you've contracted an STD. Right side pain doesn't mean liver problems. See a gastroenterologist if the pain persists or you can end the anxiety regarding HCV by having a PCR, end of story.

BTW, HCV is not considered an STD.

If you only had an HCV antibody test the first time, you can always test by HCV RNA PCR.  Virus can be detected approximately 2 weeks after exposure and they are very accurate.

Was there a part of this very clear and concise advice you did not understand?

I do admit that I am a little OCD about stds, but I had a legitimate possible exposure with blood during sex, and still have symptoms ive NEVER had before.

Have you ever seen a healthy person with no immune disorders test negative at one month, then change at a later date? Are my symptoms of liver/overall abdominal pain and discomfort classic signs on acute hcv?

Thanks for answering and sorry to be a pain

Truth of the matter?  I don't think your problem is HCV.

Well the hbv situation was cleared up, when I went to get tested the doctor came in the room and told me I tested positive for hbv, and told me i needed to talk to a specialist. After getting ahold of the results a week later and doing research, it turns out I was positive for the hbv antibody which I assume was from me getting vacinated when I was younger. So ignorant doctor told me wrong...

Now my concern is Still the same but points towards hcv because these symptoms still persist, and I am nervous that I recieved a false negative due to only being one month out from possible exposure..

My questions still remain the same from first post.. Thanks to anyone who can help
