False positive pcr?

My 25 year old daughter was in the phase 3 of the incevik trial in 2009 and cleared the virus. She just went for a check up and she showed positive, but the level was only 300. They are testing hervagain on Friday and told her this was a very odd situation and likely a false positive. Needless to say we are devastated by this news. Has any one ever had a false positive?

I am now in week 19 triple tx having finished the incevik in week 12. Still feeling crappy from the anemia. But I know how horrible it feels to relapse. However, after 48 weeks on peg/ribo in 2009,  I relapsed within 3 months of finishing, but my level was over 800,000.

Any experience with this from anyone would be helpful.

Thanks folks. I know the number is strange but I am a little jaded, so the more stories I hear like this one the better we will sleep at night.

I have no experience regarding relapsing and VL numbers, but I agree that this very low number seems odd.  I'd think the number would be much higher, but maybe others with more experience can cue in.  I hope its a false positive and you get great results for the retest.  Best of luck to your daughter and you as well.

I had a false positive of 63 at my 4 week EOT test but have been SVR ever since, five or six years.  That is a very strange number considering how long she's been finished with treatment generally if she had relapsed it would have happened during the first month or so and the number would be much higher now.

I'd say try not to worry but I know how impossible that would be for me.

BEST of luck to you both.
