anti-depressent and HepC ?

Hi, I have Hep C w/cirrhosis and am gearing up to do the treatment this fall/winter.I was advided to start an antidepressent since one of the major side effects of interferon is depression. My Dr. prescribed 10mg of Paxil. I did it for a week and slept almost the whole time. I have been looking on the net for alternatives. (My dr. isn't very helpful but will prescibe what I ask for unless he has strong objections.) I'm very confused. Have any of you had success with a particular anti-depressent while getting treated?
     thanks in advance.

I thought like others and even spoke out against AD's, I took valium for my first tx.(relapser) This time had trouble sleeping and just got depressed, Doc put me on 10mg Zoloft and I have to say for a week to 10 days it kicked my butt, had nausea, but kept with it and once the body gets used to it, They have worked for me. If you don't give it time all they do is make you want to sleep. It's whatever works for you.

I take a Xanax (only when needed for stress). Doc told me it's about the equivalent to a valium. I know this drug is habit forming, so I just save it for times when I really need to relax. I Don't want any dependencies, not to mention adding drugs to my treatment unless I have to.
(By the way..if I followed the RX on the bottle...I'd be in la-la land. Rx says, 3 per day. no way, not for this girl!)
Good luck!
