initially i was losing weight until i read that riba metabolizes best with a high fat diet. i began adding nuts, peanut butter, cheese and hi fat yogurt to my diet. i eat every 2 hrs even sometimes during the night. i see my weight going back up. if i am nauseated i try to consume a milkhake so at least my stomach is not empty. maybe this will put some weight back on so doc may not have your weight to consider. as bill said it looks like you are responding altho slower than u might like, this does not indicate that you are a non responder. i would be tempted to bulk up and see if he would go back to original dose for a while...btw how far did he lower the riba? i gather your genotype is 1? what was your 4 week vl ? i feel that if your worst sx is only fatigue and u have a 6 month investment and a pretty low vl one could make an argument to keep going with no guarantee of course. i am just a rookie here but i am aware of what a battle this is and once begun, it seems logical to keep going unless there is very little chance of SVR. good luck, babs
Hi Pam—
Do you know what test was used to determine your viral load? ARE you being treated by a primary care doc, or a liver specialist? I’m asking because some of the older viral load tests had a lower limit of sensitivity of 615 IU/mL; suspiciously close to your stated viral load. I if this is the case, and your doctor is using an older ‘bDNA’ quantitative test, you might in fact be undetectable for virus. If a PCR or TMA test is used, of course the outcome is different.
I treated twice, and felt significantly better (90%?) within 3-4 weeks; back to normal after 2 months or so.
Hopefully, you’ll get this resolved on the 22nd regardless. Good luck; let us know how it goes—
Bill
