Thank you

Thank you all for your help.  We have an appointment at St. Louis U in a few weeks.   The biggest problem is that he won't quit drinking.  I told him it would kill him and so have the docs.  He says he wants to wait until the biopsy results come back and then he'll quit.  I don't believe him.  His platlets are very low also, they're 40,000. Any advice would be great. THANKS!!

Sorry to hear he won't quit drinking.  Slow suicide.  I don't think there is anything you can do unless he wants to change.  Hang in there.  I take an ITP booster for my platelets.  It has been working for me and I am still on it while on the tx.  I went from 80 to 129.  I know it is OK to take while on the tx, but don't know if the combo will override the ITP booster.

Oh boy....
I don't know how old your husband is.  Not that it would matter.  I was in a
time in life that finally my children were grown. 2 out of 4 were out.  My
husband and I worked hard and we played hard.  I was in the same state of mind.
I'm 39.  I was enjoying my playtime with 2nd husband.  Lots of friends and with that comes lots of parties.  There was always something to celebrate.

It did take the biopsy to tell me this is serious.  It took me a good 2mo. while waiting for all results to finally get it.  A lot of soul searching and a big reality check.  Then the anger set in.  How the he** did this happen to me.  The reality is if he don't quit drinking he's dying a slow death.  Tx. is is not fun, but you will be getting a second chance at life free of disease.
tx.  Is temporary.  Get yourself fixed.  He's not going to want to drink when he gets to his 4th week of treatment anyway.  Trust me.  What I do know is if he starts tx. and continues to drink, he's wasting his time and everyone else's.  Sooner or later he has to treat.  I have a friend that did tx about 10 yrs. ago and he stated to me if you drink while tx you will get very sick and could even die.
This is a personal decision to tx.  It's getting it fixed now or later.  I chose now.  I have more living to do.
There are meds that can help him with deperssion and anxiety.  Being in this pickel it helps.
